You've probably heard this before, but at a meeting last night the elder called the NWT the "Rolls Royce" of Bibles. I'm new to the JW BS (and as soon as i can break away, will do so.) but do they also believe they have a superior Bible to anyone elses outside the religion? I thought a Bible was a Bible.

NWT is not a Rolls Royce when it gets taken on a test drive it breaks down frequently its tarted up like a Rolls but it's an old banger.
you can't do anything constructive with it ,it needs scrapping.

They say that because it is written in our common language and is easier to understand. No thees and thous. What he did not say was they inserted Jehovah over 300 times in the NT even though it does not appear in the original writings. They just assume the disiciples would use Jehovah's name instead of lord so the WT felt they should put it in their NWT of the bible. That is called adding to the scriptures. Totally ADD

I've never heard that. I would have to ask him what he based that opinion on. I would also like to know what other bibles he has read.
There are other translations that use common language, the NWT is not unique in that respect.

Not the New World Tranlsation is more like the Russian Skoda ( a car designed and manufactured in the Soviet Union during the 1970s that soon earned the reputation as a cheap, oil-guzzling rust-bucket. Which reminds me of a joke doing the rounds some years ago: What's the difference between JWs and a Skoda? At least you can eventually close the door on the Skoda.

Um, there hasn't been a translation of the Bible with "thees" and "thous" for several hundred years.

Rolls Royce of bibles? Really? That is freaking hilarious. When I left I looked into their translation process and all of the tricks they pulled in changing words to meet their own agenda. I was shocked, and still am to this day with the liberty they take in many of their passages. I mean these guys had balls of steel with some of their tricky insertions of Jehovah in the New testament. There are plenty of threads here for you to reseach on their outright lying when it comes to their translation process.
More like the Pinto of bibles imho

Then you have the dubs who said they saw on Jeopardy that it was the best translation. First off, why would they include an opinion on a Jeopardy answer. Second, I have seen nothing to back up that claim that it was even said on Jeopardy.

It was slapped together by Fred Franz..
A poorly educated WBT$ Knome who liked to Talk to his Shoes..
They should have kept him in the Bethel Garden,to Guard the Vegetables..

It's a Rolls Royce because it's specially rewritten to teach WT doctrine.
Search on Julius Mantey on JWN and see what a genuine Greek scholar thought of the NWT.
