Does it bother you thinking that you are saved and others are damned?

I don't think I'm saved and others are damned, so no.

I don't think everyone is saved though, and that does make me sad. Not because God is unjust or without mercy, because that is a lie. But because some will have chosen to hurt others and so reject peace and love... and they will never know what that peace and that love can be.

Is it ok for Christians to insult people? Insults based on their physical looks, etc?

free2beme, this was something that bothered me a lot when I was little. I don't consider myself 'Christian' btw and I didn't feel that it was a requirement to be saved.

I knew there were people in this world that have been and would be born, live their entire lives, and die without ever having heard of the Christian Holy Bible or this guy named Jesus Christ. Here is an example of a tribe recently discovered in the Amazon rainforest. I doubt they've ever heard of Jesus:

I don't think it's fair that they not be saved because they aren't Chrisitan. The criteria for being saved, at least, that which is written in the Bible, was (and still is) quite fishy to me. I view it as another control mechanism. It's part of the Christian agenda of recruitment. The criteria is designed to instill fear and so, manipulate people into joining up... much like the JW agenda. This is how I view it.

I have to second what dear Tec said, dear F2BM (peace to you, both!). I would add that knowing that part of BEING saved... means having the privilege... and OBLIGATION... to plead for OTHERS to be saved, as well (that's what a priest of JAH does)... and knowibg that because of YOUR faith it will be... is a comfort. Knowing that whatever you bind on earth is bound in heaven... is a VERY sobering thing. Because it's directly tied into the truth that "as you judge, you will BE judged." So, running around telling folks their damned... is... well, where is the love in that?

What of those who choose a course that puts them in line for a negative outcome (i.e., a blasphemer against the Holy Spirit)? Again, it was a course such one chose; however, LOVE... would prompt one to plead even for such one. Because one never knows: the Most Holy One of Israel, JAH of Armies... is merciful... and does not WANT any to die/be destroyed. No christian, then (and by christian I mean one who such by means of an anointing with holy spirit)... or anyone who goes WITH them... should want ANY to die/be destroyed. Any that do... do not belong to God or Christ... nor do they have the love of God and Christ IN them.

Dear one, you cannot look to "christendom" to understand what it is to be a christian... or the hope of a christian. They have absolutely nothing to do with one another.

    Again, peace to you!

    A slave of Christ,

Jesus says that he has come to destroy families by making family members hate each other. He has “come not to send peace, but a sword.” Matthew 10:34

Families will be torn apart because of Jesus. “Brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death." Matthew 10:21

Jesus strongly approves of the law and the prophets. He hasn’t the slightest objection to the cruelties of the Old Testament. Matthew 5:17

Jesus condemns entire cities to dreadful deaths and to the eternal torment of hell because they didn’t care for his preaching. Matthew 11:20

Jesus, whose clothes are dipped in blood, has a sharp sword sticking out of his mouth. Thus attired, he treads the winepress of the wrath of God. (The winepress is the actual press that humans shall be put into so that we may be ground up.) Revelations 19:13-15

The beast and the false prophet are cast alive into a lake of fire. The rest of us the unchosen will be killed with the sword of Jesus. “An all the fowls were filled with their flesh.” Revelations 19:20-21

Jesus speaks in parables to confuse people so they will go to hell. Mark 4:11-12

Jesus asks that his followers abandon their children to follow him. Matthew 19:29

Jesus criticizes the Jews for not killing their disobedient children according to Old Testament law. Mark 7:9

Jesus says that those who have been less fortunate in this life will have it even worse in the life to come. Mark 4:25

Jesus sends the devils into 2000 pigs, causing them to jump off a cliff and be drowned in the sea. Clearly Jesus could have simply sent the devils out, yet he chose instead to place them into pigs and kill them. This is called animal abuse. Mark 5:12-13

Jesus kills a fig tree for not bearing figs, even though it was out of season. Mark 11:13

Luke 12:47 Jesus okays beating slaves.

    Hey freetobeme

Does it bother you thinking you are saved and others are damned?

May I relate a story before I answer your question?

When I was quite young, a friend of mine who my mother did daycare for, asked me if I wanted to have a sleep over at his place. He had never asked before. I asked my mom if I could go but, without giving any reason, she said no. My friend went home with his mom that afternoon and that was the last time I saw him. The next day, he, his father, his brother, and his uncle dissapeared while day fishing. They have never been found. Had I spent the night at my friend's house I'm pretty sure I would have been invited to go fishing with them before they dropped me off back home. At that time and for many years after, I considered how a simple, seemingly arbritrary decision may have kept me from disaster. My mom always said she didn't really have a good reason as to why she didn't let me go. I felt I was kind of like a lone survivor of a plane crash and it would make me feel guilty at times.

Fast forward 15 years later, and I became a Christian. Do I believe I'm saved? Yes I do. Do I believe I'm any more deserving than anyone else? No. When I think about my salvation now, I can't help but think about my "salvation" then. My friend was no more deserving of his fate than I was. I "was in the same boat with him" right up until the day I wasn't in the same boat with him.

Does it bother me to think I am saved while others aren't? Sometimes, because I don't deserve it any more than anyone else. I also wonder why I've had the privelege of growing up in Canada without ever going hungry a day in my life while there are so many others who struggle to survive every day.

In both instances, I'm grateful and perplexed.

This use to be a source of cognitive dissonance in me quite often when I was as a true believing Christian that believed without a doubt.

Now, I am not so sure as to what the meaning of His message is entirely. The part of me that leans gnostic would say that following Christ is figurative for doing good, seeking God, doing His will by serving others. There are those that profess Christ and commit all kinds of atrocities and there are those that do not profess Christ and live as a shining example of Christ.
