Counterfeit words? What is "pioneering"? The witlesses use that term to denote simply spending most of your time doing the activity. The real meaning denotes preparing the way for others to follow. You cannot do that by aimlessly wandering around the same territory that has been worked for 50 years or more. And "a generation"? Right in their own Bible, Jesus made it clear that "THIS" generation would not pass away before these things occurred. He was speaking in the present sense, meaning that the people he was speaking to would not pass away. Do they need to be any more clear than that? The generation was those people that were alive to hear that speech (in 33 AD), and those things came to pass in 70 AD. Why do they need to make it so complicated by tacking generations together like Christmas light strings?

    Thanks, WTWizard. It bore repeating.

Simply because most WTS. doctrines are created to spur the circulation and proliferation of their own published literature.

This generation, the Time of The End, the soon take place Armageddon these are all scripted and designed

marketing schemes, established by the executive editors/publishers (GB) of this publishing house.

Its simple elementary fear mongering to lure people to their organization, control them and to further exploit them for labor and money.

There is no question that the WTS. has their backs up against a wall now since the introduction of the inter-net and the age

of information. The Net is doing some damage to their member base so the cranking up the wall higher and thicker as

an act of protection is going to continue. The real " Truth" is being spend all over the Net and they have no real means to stop it

accept to lament that their members should stay clear of any people who speak against their organization.

Thanks thetrueone. It's interesting that, through this article, the Society almost admit that nothing good will be said about them by outsiders on the internet etc.

Whenever I think back to conventions, it seemed part of the program in the final talk on the last day was to list all the "outsiders" in and around the convention venue who had good comments about the behaviour of the witnesses etc. It's noteworthy that they are happy to accept comments from outsiders under those rare circumstances, but they actively discourage people from seeking outside opinions themselves for the rest of the year, and by any conceivable means.

It's been commented on this post that the Nazis could have learned from this level of control over people's minds. I think that's certainly true from a propaganda perspective. If it weren't that the Society relies so heavily on the internet and email to run its branch operations, I think they would ban the internet altogether in a heartbeat. Maybe that scenario isn't too far off from becoming a reality. After all, if they can find a reason to ban birthdays, surely the internet is fair game.

Sure I remember those as well since being brought up in this faith .

Of course the same could be said for a Convention of Mormons or most other religious groups at a convention or Assembly.

Obviously the JW conventions are no rock and roll concert full of rebellious teenagers.

No I don't think they would go as far as to ban the use of the inter-net, they have certainly have promoted the restrictive use of it though.

There is one obvious battle they have and that is the WTS. never did preach the truth, not from its very beginning,

there are some people who still believe in them but the numbers are dwindling or growth has become quite stagnate.

Who knows how long it will take before the doors to the Watchtower Corruption finally closes its doors for business.

thetrueone - I appreciate your optimism, however I really can't see the Society ever shutting down at this rate. It would take something truly monumental to come close to achieving that - an event in which their authority was seriously undermined in the eyes of their loyal followers. When I say "monumental" I mean something HUGE like life being found on other planets, or first contact with an alien species. Even then they would probably find a way of making such events fit into their interpretation of the bible.

I think hoping that any "religion" will close down is as pointless as thinking that you can wage a war on terrorism. Sure you can "wage a war" on terrorists, you might even kill a few of them, but you'll never kill EVERY SINGLE terrorist, or every single person with radical fundamentalist militant views. It's not like defeating a country on the map where the battle lines are clearly drawn, because they're dotted around everywhere, and you have no reliable way of finding each and every one of them. Religious euphoria is more powerful than political agenda. The same is true of the witnesses. They will always exist in some way, shape or form so long as humans have the capacity to embrace crazy ideas and shape their whole lives around them. Please correct me if I'm wrong, and I wish I could be more optimistic, but I can't see it any other way.

Please correct me if I'm wrong

Actually I quite agree with you on all points.

When you consider how the IBSA morphed into the JWS, the constructs of a religious foundation are there for men to exploit

and propagate for themselves. A more probable scenario would be, when will the JWS morph into another religion with newly revisied doctrines

and a different formulated structure, we actually might be witnessing this right now.

That's true, you might even end up with multiple spin-off societies, each holding to previously cherished concepts that have been abandoned by the newly-morphed, brand new incarnation of the Society.

Ouch, that makes my head hurt!

    Psst... Cedars...

Not to drag the thread too far off-topic, but....

"so long as you remembered to take off the bird helmet. ..."

    A-HEM!!!

That is a DRAGON head, not a 'bird' helmet...

    Here ya go...

That is my first "Dragon" pantsuit... Do you think the Gov.Bod would accept a member with a pointy tail??

That is an impressive Dragon pantsuit - apologies for mistaking it for some sort of bird, it was the wings that threw me!

It's a shame that Will Farrel's character from Starsky and Hutch isn't real, because I'm sure he would appreciate this picture.

Maybe you could wear elements of the dragon suit UNDERNEATH the pantsuit when you're on the governing body? Just an idea.

    ^^ Heh, heh...

I can't figure out which reaction I'd get - would they scream at the sight of a "dragon" in their midst, or pat me on the back and accept me as one of their own - albeit, showing the 'true' underlying nature of the leaders??
