Silent_Scream--- what an inspiring post. Found encouraging posts from Tec and Shelby earlier and now this. I've enjoyed reading why you're theists and needed this tonight. Appreciate knowing the Bible translations used by a couple of you --- thank you,
Why have you remained theists?

tec: what does Jesus sound like?
My problem is faith:
Many religions including Islam include some form of blind beliefs, therefore choosing a religion becomes more of a guessing game.
God, all powerfull all knowning did a terrible job in showing his teachings
We let the bible speak for itself and what happens? many christian type religions
Well, a person very close to be called me the anti christ, but how so? I never met jesus, I am not against him, and if jesus comes down as judge jury and executioner I have a very good excused as to why I based my beliefs more in understandings than in faith.
This doesn't stop me fromr reading old texts.

Joey - I don't know... I don't hear an audible voice. Maybe once, and that just sounded quiet and calm. "Send him to me" (it was a response to a question on what I should do) Those are the words that I heard... not in my ears, but in my mind.
When I speak of 'hearing', I mean understanding, for the most part. Like a knowing in my heart, or once pictures/images of a sort in my head. Sometimes just understanding something I didn't understand before (such as why does God allow suffering to continue for now)
I also feel. Calm if I ask for calm. Strong if I ask for strength. Peace if I ask for peace. Love if I ask for love. Patience if I ask for patience. Etc.
I'm not sure if you meant to address the rest to me or not, since you began by addressing me. Just in case, I'll answer, but I'll understand if you disregard the rest.

I didn't really choose a religion. I know I was born into a mostly christian country. But I chose Christ once I was old enough to make that decision.

I don't think so. He gave us Christ. Christ's teachings of love (and also the golden rule) do also tend to run the gamut in other religions as well. People just put all kinds of stipulations around that.

Agreed. I think. People don't really let the bible speak for itself. They tend to try and speak for it... interpret it. Same end result though. Need to listen to Christ. Even if you start with just the bible, and what Christ taught in there... letting love and mercy and forgiveness also guide you... then people would get a little closer in their various 'types'.
Well, a person very close to be called me the anti christ, but how so? ... I am not against him...
Well, someone recently said that I have a partial spirit of the anti-christ. But so what? What does that mean? Does someone else know what is in my (or your) heart more than you... or Christ, or God himself? You don't have to listen to what others say about you. They are not your judge; they are not capable of being your judge. Your relationship with Christ (or not) is between you and Him.
Faith is not blind though, as some think. At least it isn't for me. Some people just need 'more' or 'less' evidence than others.
Peace,
Tammy

Oh I believe in intelligence, but I'm not at all convinced that the behavior of this intelligence is beneficent.

Why do I still beleive in God?
A very valid question.
The short answer, Christ.
The long answer:
I followed the evidence to where it lead and it lead me to the short answer.

This is the first x-JW forum I have posted in. I have been talking a lot about my walk with Christ, but not in response to a thread that asked atheists for their viewpoint. Can we offer each other mutual respect on this forum, or should I go elsewhere?

@ ShadesofGray
Welcome to the forum! I am new too. I am a Christian. As far as "mutual respect" on this forum goes. I believe you will receive respect from both Christians and atheists as well as lack there of from both. This is a X-JW forum and their are many who no longer believe in God. I can understand why they feel the way they do. Like yourself, at one time, it bothered me very much when they dropped into a thread like this. Rather than get upset about it I try to be loving and not get offended no matter how offensive the person tries to be. At times it is not easy and I have lost it on other forums in the past. Even though most here are no longer JW's, I still try to view everyone as my brothers and sisters. Some as spiritual and some physical. Our loving response could be the only thing that wins them over to Christ. Love never fails. In my opinion, the true definition of an atheist is "a person that does not believe in God yet."
Your brother in Christ,
Greybeard

Good morning! May you please, you who reject the Bible because it seems to contradict itself, for once consider that it only sounds that way. I believe the Bible is a hope for mankind on the one hand, and a warning on the other, of course it is contraditory. Deuteronomy 30:19. Death and life is set before the world. Jesus came to say "choose life" it is important to Jesus and The Father (that makes two). God bless you.

Oh, and another thing. You who say, why does not God prove Himself (OK, why don't you?) and why do we not have the panacea yet? You know, the one the Jehovah's Witnesses promise is coming? But the problem with that is ring theory. You got the do-gooder on the on "end" of the ring (but the ring has not end, because it goes around and around) and on the other "end" you have the disabled person (not every disabled person), so now you have them side by side. The inflicted person is perfectly happy the way she is, but the do-gooder (right next to her-on the ring) can fix her, so he does. But fixing her is harming her, so there my friends is the problem with panacea. Yes, I'm on the right thread.
