The UN, the Kings of the North and South, the generation that was alive in 1914 that will not pass away, 1975, etc. The nostalgia brings tears to my eyes.

To my knowledge nothing has changed reagarding the understanding of united nations.

This is how they do it. Quietly they just stop mentioning about something, let a couple decades go by until they can cook up some other weirdness to replace it. Then they will come out with a bogus questions from readers and say "previously it was taught bla bla".

wha...you are exactly right. When I was studying and then baptised (1973) the UN was constatly referred to, and yes....the end was sooooo close, because the harlot (false religion) was riding the back of the wild beast, the UN. For so long the WT was just waiting for the "peace and security" proclamation, and then the tribulation.
I'll bet most JWs don't know what the current stance is.

The young ones at any rate have no frikkin idea...
I mentioned the 'united nations' to my daughter this morning and her face was as blank as a unused cannvas. No idea at all what the UN even is about, i have to teach her what the WT stand on them was/is, to show her the UN NGO hypocracy!!!
un bloody beleivable thay would baptise her anyway.

On a side note...does anybody here know which issue of Awake? magazine it was that had all of the positive things to say about the UN?
As I recall, publishing such an article and distributing it throughout the organization was one requirement for NGO status. I remember how wierd that article seemed after all of the previous vitriol-spitting in the magazine.
