In the continuing court battle in Australia, the legal counsel for the Witchtower Babble and Trash religion shocked Witless onlookers by saying the there is

"no Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in the state of Victoria," or indeed the whole of Australia.

    HAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!

At least they are not perjuring themselves as any fool can see that their congregations are not "Christian".

Check this on Barb Andersons thread!

Someone will have to answer for the breech of law. If what you say is true then the Governing Body is trying to get the local elders to take the fall for them.

    Technically, they are correct.

The JWs in Australia are officially known as the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.

The Christian Congregation of JWs applies to the USA and a few other countries.

I don't think that's 100% correct, BP. "The Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses" sends letters to congregations worldwide, with instructions from the HQ about how to do various things. They may not have a formally registered presence in Oz by that specific name but the JW congregations sure submit to them and their hierarchy.

True, that's why I said "technically" they are correct. In the strict legal sense, the "Christian Congregation of JW's" does not exist in Australia. The WTS does.

But in the practical sense, the CCofJWs exists in that they send out directives to Australia and the WTS here operates under those directives.

But in the strictly legal sense, which is what Rachel van Wisen(or whatever her name is) was saying, there is no CCofJWs here. There is no organisation in Australia which goes by that name.

Seeing that it is LAW that must prevail rather than common sense, it's just as well the indictment is larger than this one questionable corporate identity.

It seems that they are trying to get off the hook on a technicality: proof enough that their guilty from the laymans point of view.

Corporate identity and immunity from liability on a personal level can be completely ignored by a concept called "piercing the corporate veil." It sounds so spooky. Every corporate law and regulation must be followed to the nth. The reports from Australia by the authors reveal some chaos in WT legal strategy. I don't know any specifics of Australia law but it is a common law country. Former English countries, including the US, decided not to start from scratch legally. They admired English law and continued it. Certainly, if the corporate papers state the Christian congregation exists in the US or wherever else only and there is a massive letter campaign transferring liability to Australia individuals, some issues are raised.
