Do we have the right to judge god?

this is an important question. non-believers often become and remain non-believers because they judge that god is incomprehensible or malevolent, and therefore of dubious existence in the form believers claim.

believers sometimes say that it is irrelevant to judge god, because morality comes from god, and by definition god therefore is beyond morality, and his will is good, whatever it looks like to us at this time and place.

other believers say that we are pottery created in the image of god, and have the obligation to turn our eyes back and regard the potter who made us with that capacity and inclination.

jewish scriptures have wrestled with the question in the books of job and ecclesiastes. christian scriptures tend to be concerned elsewhere.

Well, it is really a moot point for people who realize that we have only myth and fable to actually describe "God" - never has any God actually revealed himself or publicly communicated with mankind in general within our own lifetimes. So, we really know "God" only by heresay.

However, if a real God really did some of the things reported in the Old Testament (flood, for example - and there are numerous others) - I would have an honest reason to refuse to worship him just as I would refuse to bow down to hypothetical aliens who came here to destroy people like the bugs in the movie Independence Day.

Do we have the right to judge god? This sounds like a question cults would use, we all know too well what the WB&TS says about this, NEVER STOP QUESTIONING.

We have the right to choose to do whatever we want. Free will. But every choice we make has a consequence, be it good or bad. That is a natural cause/effect law.

Do we have the ability to judge God, though? No. We can't even judge one another without error.

People seek God to right all the wrongs and make sense of it all. Even for firm believers, how can they be sure they seek Him properly without proper examination. Examination really includes judgement. Otherwise, they can all become Buddhists or atheists.

As far as judging without error, God is free to approach any of us and help us correct the matter.

Why do we not have the right to judge or question God? Because he's our progenitor? Do we not have the right to judge our parents either for the same reasons? Do not let a sense of obligation for those responsible for your existence, be they ancestors or God, turn into feelings of guilt when you disagree with their actions or motivations.

Guilt is a powerful force; Authority figures (Parents, God, etc.) would often not have power over us if it were not for the feeling of guilt at questioning them. Choose your own path.
