How important is it to you that Lawence Hughes wins his case against the WT and doctors

I wish I could help Lawrence b/c he is trying to do something that could effect my family and maybe yours. I pray that someone is successful against them and sets a precedent case that will save the children and some adults. I think a lot of jws would take blood if they knew there would not be any repercussions for it.

why would anyone not want to support him, at least in spirit? Why are we trying to get him banned?

This is an Xjws board and while we may have gotten bitten by Trevor, Lawrence is a known person to most of us.

I believe strongly in stopping the JWs ritual manslaughter of their children over blood transfusions. That said, I sent Lawrence a donation several weeks ago-paypal. I guess it wasn't big enough to warrant a simple, "thank you".

Sorry sorry sorry for breaking the rules. I didn't think it would be such a big deal. It's not like I was trying to scam someopne. This is Zen (Shawn) Dean posting, not L. Hughes. He didn't ask me to post, I did it because I actually thought ex JWs would care enough to band together to make this case a success. There are new developments on the case. I have been talking with lawrence about his many mistakes in handling the case. Right now the whole story is posted on ajwrb.org. The case is set for trial now as he has cleared through every viable objection. I have told Lawrence that I would not support the case unless he got a lawyer. That is my own personal prerequisite for aiding him.

Please forgive me oh dear God please forgive me.. forgiiiiive meeeeee!!!!! for not realising it was against the rules. I didn't think it was the same as say advertising a new stock option. It's a cause, not a pyramid scheme. Personally I think heads are going to roll on this case, especially those of the doctors involved. But [possibly WT heads as well. There may be criminal charges resulting from the case. Of course I could just be a sucker and Lawrence Hughes is just playing me. Or maybe I'mm just a dumb shit that doesn't know the law and thinks the right thing sometimes is done in this world. But I am backing this case with everything I have win or lose. Lawrence could be a great big dumbass. I still don't care. I see merit in the case. I want him to win for ME, Bethany, and all JWs.

So all you ravenous hyennas out there DONT GIVE ANY MONEY!!! Just sit there at your computers and rip and shred people to pieces. Don't be an activist. Don't care. Don't do anything. But make sure you have a smarmy comment when it all fails. And make sure you say, "I told you so." I am starting to remember why I left this forum. Some of you are like rabid dogs that just tear down all the time. It's really disgusting.

By the way, simply stating he needs 500 dollars is not really in itself a solicitation. It is a statement of fact. He actuially does need the money. I am not soliciting I am trying to support a CAUSE. Something that exJWs don't get involved with apparently. I am not working for L Hughes. I didn't even tell him I was going to post here. God forbid should someone here actually give damn about ANYTHING. Let the shedding and sarcasm begin... Just rip me straight to hell for caring Go on.

From your own words above, yeah, that's the way to get people here on "the forum" to donate to the cause.

Sure seems odd to me- asking for the same $500, after I and others, made a donation- shouldn't the amount asked for have been less - to account for the donations he had previously received?

added- chk'd my paypal- the donation I made was almost 3 weeks ago in response to the same $500 appeal.

To be perfectly honest, it won't affect my life one little bit if Lawrence Hughes wins this case or not.

Nor do I have money to spare to help him.

He was supposed to need the money by the end of last week. Did he get the money? If not, according to a previous thread he would have to close the case. So did he get the money or not? Is the case closed now?

    Curious minds want to know.

Lawrence is driven by his cause. If he was a crook, he'd be a lot slicker.

Folks, he lost his daughter and is angry and has little else to live for.

His efforts appear desperate... and I personally have never received ever so much of a "thank you" from, him either, no matter how much I advertise his case and try to raise him some money. And I am not in favor of his latest efforts to "buy" the case. Come on, Lawrence, get some class and express some thankfulness towards others. Some people act as if we are obligated to support their cause.

I AM NOT. Neither are any of you. MOST of us have suffered a lot, some more than you, Lawrence.

Like the average person, if I give of myself or my money, I at least expect a "thank you." I made $14 a month at Bethel for 6 years and gave $5 per month as a tithe, my own decision. I gave up seeing a movie every month for that.

I believe the WT at least sent me a standard "Thank you" letter.

Many ex-JWs in ministry and who have "causes" have failed and are broke to this day because they do not know how to say "Thank you!"

For such persons, mark my words: You will not succeed unless you are independently wealthy. No one is going to support you.

My suggestion: Get a life and move on. You obviously are not skilled at dealing with people.

Lawrence, if you are too burned out by all of this, then you need a big vacation. Learn how to interreact with other people. You are not a pariah that deserves anything if you can't express appreciation in a simple card or note.

I am used to not receiving thank yous from people I donate to. But they should not expect to receive another donation from anyone, ever. It's INSULTING. It's called bad manners...

...but don't assume he is corrupt. Lawrence is legit.

But so are many of us.

Just don't become a lone martyr. You will be miserable the rest of your life.

You need to heal and get beyond the anger.

    with all due respect,

    Randy Watters

Move on and write a book if it will help you in healing.

Randy I appreciate what you say a man who lost his daughter is driven by this anger and a need for justice. He needs to make the society pay for their actions. It is perfectly understandable that he has no room for any other thought or a wish to do things differently the legal route has been started and will be pursued. If people have donated to this personal cause then they do deserve some acknowledgement, they chose to do something tangible. A simple thank you post on here would do alot.

I don't agree with other posters who find the people on the board hard hearted my experience has been one of support. However with this case and the raw emotion surrounding it, it is hard to find balance. I worry for lawrence since the legal route is fraught with expense and no guarantee of success. If he does not get the legal recourse he needs has he planned for that and can he get past it. Life is so precious not just his daughters life but his too. The society controls him still all the time they have the power to cause him so much distress.
