    I was going to post this as a PM but I will say it publically:

    Randy,

    Many years ago, I ordered a couple of books from you. I received the books with a printed invoice and a handwritten note: "Thank you, Randy".

    That little handwritten note of thanks, only 3 words, made my day. It impressed me that the sender, the receiver of my money for the goods purchased, had taken the time to to write a simple word of thanks. And it still impresses me today.

    Randy gained more respect from me that day, just for saying "thanks".

    A little bit of good manners never hurt anyone.

    I watched my dad. It didn't come naturally at first.

    Always treat others with respect.

    Smile.

    Say a kindness.

    Maybe it's just an Irish thing.

    But it works and it is a part of me consitutionally.

    I am an Irish/ English/ small part American Indian (duh, I'm from Oklahoma!)

    I respect SMALL ANIMALS.

    Why do I fail to respect other people?

    Only when I see they are phony.

    Shawn ... I don't know you but ...

    {Sorry sorry sorry for breaking the rules. I didn't think it would be such a big deal. It's not like I was trying to scam someopne. This is Zen (Shawn) Dean posting, not L. Hughes. He didn't ask me to post,}

    >

    The sound of your regret is heart breaking!

    So sorry that life can be so crappy ... I'm only 1 person here but you know, Christ has been murdered already and his blood spilled for our forgiveness. Forgive yourself now. {a lot here don't believe in christ but that is beside the point!}

    >

    Actually, your self condemnation seems blown out of proportion to the good that you tried to do.

    Life is short. Take care of yourself.

    {Please forgive me oh dear God please forgive me.. forgiiiiive meeeeee!!!!! for not realising it was against the rules.}

    Shawn, please. You wouldn't know the history, and there is no need to be sarcastic. Many people on this DB are in need. If solicitations were allowed, even for worthy causes, the board would be inundated! It's a necessary rule.

    Lawrence, what nugget said is so true ... the WT has a legal TEAM, it's a rough rough road you are travelling, and they have the upper hand. There may come a time, and perhaps it is now, to put a period on this quest. I know that nothing can take that pain away, but there comes a time to heal. Think about it.

    Danny Hazzard -- what can I say? I think your way with people has more to do with who you are, and perhaps being from Maine, as we down-easters are known for our politeness. Thank you for clarifying Lawrence's situation, and I agree with you, he is not a scammer, just hopelessly lost. :(

    My heart goes out to you, Lawrence.

    Zen makes a good point - let's support these causes and not be so paranoid about the $$$ thing. If you want to give to help the cause then do so! If you don't feel its worthy then don't help out.

    Why should this board be censoring someone mentioning a financial need? Isn't that a big part of what we escaped from? Censorship and thought control?And it's scriptural to mention a need and then to contribute to it with our charity (if you are still into that Bible stuff)

    I always seem to be on the contrary end of most public opinions here.

    I lived in Calgary when this happened and it was covered quite publically in the local news. From what I saw, I wasn't at all impressed with Mr. Hughes handling of the matter. While I applaud tackling the WT over the blood issue, I disagree with suing the hospital and doctors involved. The requests for money usually don't highlight that the WT isn't even attached to the suit anymore. It just seems dishonest.

    Also, if my memory serves me correctly, the debacle with a poster a few years ago who was always begging for help and receiving it, only for it to be revealed that she made the whole thing up. People felt hurt and betrayed and the admins made the decision to moderate any requests for money. Since that time I have received two bulk PMs from Mr. Hughes asking for money.

    That's my second issue. His only contact with the members here seems to be creating new accounts asking for money. I know he feels this lawsuit is important, but why isn't respecting the site owner and the members here also important?

    Danny Hazzard -- what can I say?

    Just to clarify, it was Randy Watters, not Danny who responded.

    Why should this board be censoring someone mentioning a financial need? Isn't that a big part of what we escaped from? Censorship and thought control?

    Can you imagine the number of scammers who would take advantage of a situation where it was open to all financial requests? And of course there needs to be some kind of control over what is posted here. It would be a free-for-all otherwise.

    sorry, BP and Randy!!!! My eternal mixing up of names is legendary in RL, and with menopause, it's worse. Yes, I meant to say Randy Watters.

    Thanks for the clarification, BP.

    Randy gained more respect from me that day, just for saying "thanks".

    I have to second that notion regarding Randy's manners. He practices what he preaches. After making a small Paypal donation to Freeminds, I received a Thank You email, as well as a Thank You card in the mail. It does impress.
