It's the closest thing to the Truth...

For many years I believed what your wife believes so I certainly can relate.

If Jesus sacrifice covers a JW's imperfect faith, why wouldn't it cover others?

If Grandma believes in her heart she is living a Christian life, loves God and neighbor, but is Lutheran, what makes the fruit of her faith not good enough?

Grandma believes Jesus is God, so her faith is wrong .... well, is it wrong to call Jesus God? It was propesied as being a title for him (Mighty God), John 1:1 says he is God or (a god), Thomas exclaimed "my Lord My God" and Jesus didn't tell him it was wrong ... so perhaps the word trinity isn't in the Bible, perhaps the definition of trinity isn't the perfect explanation for God, but the Bible clearly uses the word God in reference to Jesus, who is closer to the truth? Would a JW feel comfortable calling Jesus God as a title?

It's hopeless most of the time.....

""Jehovah is still using this organization""

The thing that deprogrammed me was learning about other cults and their tactics I saw the connection and woke up.

moonies heavenly deception------ JW theocratic warfare

scientology suppressed person SP------ JW disfellowshipped person DF

Personally- my feelings on the JW " religion " and other organized religions is that they are the closest thing to BS than to the truth

I like the follow-up question about literal Israel/Judah.

(assuming you believe the Borg version of the Bible) They were "the closest thing to the truth" in the bronze-age world and yet Jehovah not only allowed them to be taken over and destroyed, HE CAUSED it to happen through Nebuchadnezzar and the Babylonian Empire.

Why does modern-day spiritual Israel express the same hubris and contempt for others that ancient Israel did but EXPECT DIVINE APPROVAL FOR IT?

If Jehovah God caused the desolation of Jerusalem and 70 year (again, if you believe the BS) exile of HIS PEOPLE, then WHY WOULDN'T the parallel situation exist today?

(this was one of the e-watchman points that helped jumpstart my thinking and analysis of the Borg - not that I'm endorsing his brand of wackiness)

It's the closest thing to the Truth...

This is what I said when I had many doubts. Said enough times that I had to start searching. Now I would say it's the furthest thing from the Truth...

Truth is like pregnancy: You either are or you aren't; there's no in-between. "Closest" to it sounds like special pleading.

Dear Lord! There is no such thing as "closest to the truth" when it comes to God things in my opinion ... I smoke but I didn't inhale type of thinking ... LOL!!!!

You might come at it from the opposite side and ask her which current WT teachings she now admits (or at least believes) are wrong.

Just because she can't defend some of the teachings doesn't mean she will admit that they are wrong.

For a JW to say that the WTS is presently wrong is any of its teachings is tantamount in their mind to treason against Jehovah.

At least you'll know if you're getting through to her at all.

This... and all the other things like it on this thread.

Closest to the truth = not the truth.

    Peace,
