  It is my daughters access visit with me this weekend. She called me the other night to make a change. She asked if i didn't already have plans for her, could she go to a BIRTHDAY PARTY over the weekend. That means the visit is rather short as its a sleepover too, at a 'worldly' school friends place.

  Now, it goes without saying, i said of course!.

  Now, i figured that their was no way her mother knows about this. So i figured this is on the sly and asked her (daughter) whether her mother knew...

  YES. She actualy got to see the invitation, asked her if she wanted to go and gave approval.

  You could have knocked me down with a feather!

  My girl says her mum is not hardcore JW. That family is such a paradox...

  In the light of all the crap they've been getting in the WT study these days . . . going to a worldly Birthday party is pretty out there. That would be very loose as I recall. Good question to ask your daughter oz . . .

  I hope the trend continues . . . the only bummer is losing some time together . . . but it sounds well worth it.

  Our kids participate in winter concerts, and she will allow them to go to college.......... as long as they can come home every night

  I think this is becoming TYPICAL among some long-time JWs. Sure there are still die-hards and perhaps new converts are more rigid (having just come out of the world to discover the spiritual paradise). But many long-time JDubs have found that when they climbed on the JW Bus to Paradise that was "just around the corner" they were not told that they ride was in either in a V-E-R-Y S-L-O-W bus or it's one hell of a V-E-R-Y L-O-N-G corner. Years and years of riding the bus, and it STILL hasn't rounded the corner. Thus, they've resigned themselves that Armageddon is still coming.......just not necessarily in their lifetime. Thus, it's time to plan a more "normal" lifestyle for themselves and their families.

  The time 'lost' with my daughter is relationship gain in this case.

  I feel there is a new breed of JW youth growing up raised by tired parents...
