Actually - though it pains me to say it and reverses a previous point of mine when he first ran for President - he is the first smart president you'd have had for a while. The Clintons seem very crooked , the Obama's liars, Bush Jnr seemed a buffoon though snr seemed a bit smarter.

I think he would be a pretty good President as he has previous experience of working with Democrats and he does have a grasp for figures and economics, in other words he seems the man for the moment. If this world financial crisi continues to play out I'm not certain that I'd want someone voted in on the basis of ideology (i.e. how right wing they are or how conservative) I'd hope that you voted for someone who is clever enough to run the world's most powerful country.

The vid is a pile of horsesh*t by the way but hey don't let me spoil a good cartoon.

    Good point.

People like Bachman and her 'let's convert a homosexual to the right orientation', and Perry with his 'let's pray for sky daddy to stop this drought' are no better when one measures them against rational thought, agreed.

These sorts of delusional nut-jobs have gone a long way in actually helping me to gel my non-theism. I could not vote for any of them. Unfortunately, the liberal left offers no good choice either, unless one wishes to watch his nation go to hell and bankruptcy.

Do you mean it is not ACCURATE? Or do you think the video quality is bad? Just curious in what respect you meant that?

    The GOP Candidates are special

Mitt and Perry both were critical of the President's announcement to withdraw Troops from Iraq by year's end, you get the feeling if he had said 'we'll keep the Troops there for another year' they would have been critical again. These guys are like Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb from Alice In Wonderland.

I feel very conflicted concerning Romney's Mormonism. In my view, he would be the best Replubican b/c he is Massachusetts. Massachusetts sums it up. A moderate GOP similar in some ways to Nelson Rockefeller and Ed Brooke. The GOP used to be the party of civil rights and moderate policies.

His religious beliefs are his own business - as long as he never imposes them on others. Running so soon after Big Love is hard. I've made countless wikipedia trips in the past years to the Mormonism articles. FDLS also raises issues. I recall when John Kennedy had to address his Roman Catholic beliefs. Now I believe Kennedy's critics and reporters were not biased in raising the issue. The question was never Catholic doctrine but the power of the Pope to influence American policy. Being born-in, I am puzzled by Mormon beliefs. Is it possible to have beliefs considered very bizarre by others and be able to distant yourself when needed? Is there anything that Mormonism teachers that could raise issues of governance? How controlling is the Mormon hierarchy?

I can't accept that they are Christian. A Jewish or Muslim president would not bother me, however. My concern is with how cult-like Mormonism is. I live in the East. Their ideas sound far-fetched but, objectively, Christianity itself is far-fetched. Paul wrote that they were "fools for Christ" and the "folly of the Christ."

We are not a Christian nation. It should not bother me that this beliefs are very strange to me. Yet I am bothered.

I don't see the LDS Church being overly influencial on Mitt, if anything I see him downplaying his Church because he probably doesn't believe much of the Book of Mormon anyway.
