I appreciate your comments but I don't know if you're getting my point about the organization's vital need for skilled, educated labor - which they may not be able to afford across the globe.
Selling off valuable real estate is a big plus for them but that doesn't solve their potential legal and logistical issues. Look, ANY corporation would have difficulty doing what the Watchtower does in coordinating printing tens of millions of magazines in 188 languages, each month. It truly is remarkable and that's why they impress business tours of Bethel so much.
but sell off the Branches, layoff Bethelites, and discourage the unpaid fanatics ...... and THEN what happens?
7 million publishers on paper mean nothing unless they come across with donations or skilled workmanship - and both may be in doubt, as events unfold. I also wonder if their new brochures for the mentally challenged are a desperate attempt to keep things very simple and manageable.
I say these Governing Bozos aren't Guilliver being tied down by Lilliputians. They are already much less, facing much more potential difficulty. Their empire is razor thin, lacking depth of defense (an engineering way of looking at things) and in danger of disruption.
Doing online only magazines won't be effective and print costs money. I see no business model for them to follow.... and why would they be starting to sell off both Kingdom Halls and some Assembly Halls, if they are such cash cows? What would happen if dopey Witnesses everywhere heard of a "deficit" and just said, "they always say that!".
