Could The Watchtower and Awake Collapse?

Oh, how I'd love to see the WBT$ crash and burn drastically.
However, I liken my looking at the signs of their demise as another version of a JW looking at the world situation and thinking: 'Armageddon is SOON!'
.............I suffer from this 'confirmation bias' methinks!

If they drop a magazine, I believe it will be the public Watchtower. The 'downsizing' would be too psychologically depressing to completely shut down the Awake magazine, which has been printed essentially since 1919. They would just offer the dumbed-down Awake with a smattering of Bible articles with a majority of articles about natural disasters, Swiss cheese, and maybe a Young People Ask article here and there. The Watchtower would become a members-only magazine. It seems kind of silly to have two 'editions' of the Watchtower for two completely different audiences, the more I think about it.
I would expect it to happen the other way around.
Keep the public WT as this is a matter or pride.
Instead, publish the Study Edition material in the KM, thus making it convenient to have all the study material for all the meetings in one monthly publication. Plus the KM is not 4-color, and thus much less expensive to produce. Congregations that have the capability could be encouraged to download them and print them locally as well, saving printing & shipping costs.
(Gosh, we're doing the brainstorming and the WT spies will get the credit.)

I can see members of the GB now.... browsing through this thread, jotting down all the good suggestions for restructuring...

Their collapse is just around the corner, or shall we say "imminent"

A merging of Awake! and public Watchtower seems inevitable. Whether they call it "Awake" or "Watchtower" or something new entirely (which would be smart because "new" things energize the sheeple) remains to be seen. They'll still have the study Watchtower. Before they stop printing it entirely, they will lay heavy pressure on the flock to download and print their own for a few years. Only when that fails to save them enough money will they discontinue the printing altogether.
If the economy rebounds the Borg may be in ok shape for several decades. If the recession continues, they could be in serious trouble.

Just as JW's of today are mostly unrecognizable from the Bible students of 100 years ago, the Watch Tower religion and cult will probably still be around in 100 yrs time although it will also be vastly different from the Watch Tower religion and cult of today.

This is an interesting angle. The Watchtower magazine is the JW's heritage, but publically the internet PR says anything Watchtower related is a cult. Will be interesting to see if the WTS turns it's back on the Watchtower brand name in order to try to combat the cult perception.

Lets be honest... who reads them ? Seriously.. nobody.
With modern media the magazine and newspaper format will be gone within 5-10 years MAX. You cant go from door to door with SD cards or USB sticks. I think the WT society know this and they are slowing things down accordingly. Rather than hit a wall in 5 years itme (not that far away) they will just slowly reduce the printing (already done) and printing facilities (already done).
They have left themselves in a difficult situation after calling the internet Satans fart hole for so long, but before long I can see them publishing the mags online (already done) at a cost of nearly nothing!
This will be the demise of the shittest magazines in the world.
