Ann- Probably right on the 'organic' stuff being eaten before it gets here. 3000 mile wide swath of contamination, much of it sinking as it moves across the Pacific and the Marine life on all levels feeding on the stuff is going to make for a multi-year study as it enters our foods.
What we collected Sunday was the usual stuff we see- plastics and styrofoam, and rubber parts, a microcosm of modern life. Plus somebody brought in the New Year burning tires on the beach, that was a mess to clean up.
Watching the sunrise and it was good surf always make the days worth of work enjoyable.

Hawaii is seeing debris from Japan's tsunami disaster wash up on its shores. 70% of the debris from Fukushima has already sunk into the ocean. Japan has sent teams to Hawaii to collect samples. Where are the monitors for checking levels of radiation in our food supplies from the Pacific Ocean.
