Just heard on the radio the episode they did on Scientology was not on the new season DVD boxset. An ex- member released documents from the church on the net showing a campaign of harrassment against the shows creators. one example even their garbage was investigated for anything they could use. And their friends Rebbeca Romajn and John Stamos also investigated by the church. Looks like they won.
SOUTHPARK - Scientology episode removed from DVD boxset!!! Why??

Freedom of speech is allowed as long as it doesn't criticize Mormons, JWs or Scientologists... criticizing all other religions is allowed though...

If we can't say anything about Muslims, maybe we can at least drawpictures of them instead?
Hmmm... Why do I suddenly feel like a Danish pastry?

Cults are waging a war.

The Scientologists are well known thugs who think nothing of breaking the law to further their aims. While ex-JWs fear their organization mentally - many ex-Scientologists fear their organization both physically and financially.
I am nevertheless disgusted that the producers of SouthPark would back down to them.

The same goes for censoring anything to do with Muslims, SouthPark doesn't mess with them either for similar reasons--but they don't pull anything to do with Buddhists or Christians or Mormons or JWs.

Just a theory, but it may have been out of respect for Isaac Hayes, who died in 2008, and had left the show a couple of years before, because he was unhappy with the satirization of Scientology.

Uhmmm - threat of getting sued, memory of Isaac Hayes, threat of getting sued for MILLIONS OF DOLLARS, ehmmm....., threat of getting stalked forever......ehmmmm..... Yup. Preserving the memory of Isaac Hayes, all right.

I remember a reporter that wrote about Scientologists around 20 years ago. They had gathered details about his private life, checked his credit, checked his history. The reporter reported their harrassment in his article. They have a long standing tradition of doing this. The article brought out that they seek to get famous people, then they get dirt on them, and basically blackmail them into staying put. Totally believable considering their MO.
