As I said, we are not talking about producing a certain pitch or note on a guitar. We are talking about the general "rules for instruments". But if you want to discuss this fine. Guitars have an unlimited amount of possibilities when concerning producing notes. I can utilize alternate tunings (no limit to this amount, certain alternate tunings have yet to be found) to produce notes on other frets. I can also utilize something like a pen, marker, or bottle to raise the strings, thus producing different pitches in different areas, you can utilize a capo, you can play a chord using different strings then the strings that correspond with prescribed note, the possibilites are endless. You can even combine them all.

This is something that I have imagined the spirit does. I have been on JWN for a couple of months, it seems longer, haha. Has anyone else noticed there are usually two threads going at the same time that look something like twins? Is it only me who when I think of something I might add, I click the wrong thread? Oops, there it is, it turns out to be the other one. I'm the only one, are'nt I?

...well i think its a nice point anyway, that it wouldnt make life more meaningfull to be told this is the meaning.
One can be told something but one should still find out for themselves.
To insiniuate there there are no rules for living our life, well...that leads us to very dangerous grounds.
I know that many former JW view religion as oppressive and destructive and yes, that is the case with many religions and ideologies.
But that isn't the case for all believers, many find great freedom in their beliefs.

It isn't that there ARE NO RULES for living our life, PSac. It is that the rules are determined BY US OURSELVES, based on OUR OWN reason.

Dont you think that once you know you are going to die that you have a choice:
Go to pieces because you are going into oblivion,
or:
Give your life its own purpose,
or:
let somebody else choose your life purpose.
I am always astonished when a "True Believer" says, "but how can you live when there is nothing?" What do they mean by "NOTHING"?? We are here, so there is something. Then you realise: They mean without "GOD" there is "nothing". With or without, we are alive are we not???
Yet we are still here.

This is faulty reasoning. What grounds it leads to are moot, truth has no bias for whether it is beneficial or not. Too often people reason that such and such can't be true, because that would mean something unpleasant about reality is also true.
You know what? Maybe there isn't a good reason not to murder and rape beyond we decide not to for any number of reasons. Does that scare you? It should. But that's why we have to grow the fuck up and stop waiting for sky daddy to tell us what to do, and how to do it, and hope he saves us real soon. We are on our own, which is why we have to act like adults. Civilization has to grow up and take responsibility for itself, instead of constantly passing the buck to some absentee mystical father figure. All the horrors that went down, we did it and we might do it again. But all the virtues and great things we did, that was us too, and we CAN do something noble instead. Not because magic jesus rain sprinkles down invisibly into our brains and makes us do nice things, but because we decide to do it. Not because sky daddy will be sad if we don't or he will beat us if we disobey, but because we can, and we chose to.
Reality might very well be both horrifying and disappointing, but if it is, it's only because WE decided it would be that way.

But getting back to Nicolaou's opening post, and away from different artistic techniques...
[which, by the way, has illustrated by your responses which of you are most likely to spend your time painting insipid landscapes, and which are likely to come up with entirely new art forms...]
A theist or deist will ALWAYS be limited in some way by their concept of an overseeing "deity". Whether the limitations come in the form of their not being allowed to help certain segments of humanity - gays, pro-choice supporters, "legalize marijuana" supporters, and so on - the thought or concept of a big "sky-daddy" who "sees" everything that one does, tends to create a self-censoring internal environment...
Some people have been able to visualize a "sky-daddy" who somehow magically supports nearly everything that they do, on the other hand.
But most people live, to some degree, with a certain amount of self-hindering beliefs - and obviously I'm NOT referring to beliefs that hinder them from committing illegal, cruel or deliberately malicious acts...
Especially when one considers that this topic has come up on an ex-Jehovah's Witness discussion board. In that context, the hindrances created by the Watchtower Corporation, neccessitates the release of many, many behaviors forbidden by the cult, in the name of a mis-translated Bronze-Age Middle-Eastern male volcano 'god'...
But to move from the cult of Jehovah's Witnesses without ridding oneself of the Middle-Eastern Bronze-Age 'god', is to retain far too many hindrances to one's own freedom to create...

psac: "But that isn't the case for all believers, many find great freedom in their beliefs."
i completely agree there...
To insiniuate there there are no rules for living our life, well...that leads us to very dangerous grounds.
i also agree there are no objective rules of living ones life (with the really big O), but i think that is true in the same sence as there is no objective laws of logic; it would just be entirely silly to choose some random set of logical rules. And I dont think that is a dangerous situation at all.
