I can't bring myself to say the phrase "the Truth" anymore....

If I get a chance to talk with a JW, I use the phrase "in the organization" because that's what the WT religion is all about -- the WT organization. Naturally, they notice that I didn't say "in the truth." I hope by this to get them to entertain the possibility that there's a difference. Until they see that they are following a group of fallible men, they aren't going to change.

The cognitive dissonance still amazes me -- how JWs will counter evidence of WT doctrinal flipflops and failed prophecies by saying that the GB don't claim to be infallible or inspired... at the same time that they obey "the organization" as if it were the infallible voice of Jehovah himself.

I call it the org because it kinda sounds like a vomiting word.

Well, yeah. Quit speaking their cult language and speak the truth.

Wow, Commander Farkel has given me my orders...

I'm with Farkel on this, Cedars. Every time you speak a loaded word or phrase you reinforce the cult mind control and cult personality. Maybe not your own - if you are very strong and very OUT mentally - but certainly that of the current believers. It is the least you can do for them to not reinforce the mind control if you can help it.

    Hi Mad

Personally I'm against establishing rules on this forum that suppress people's ability to express themselves in a way they feel comfortable with. If you introduce a ban on saying "the Truth" EVEN when it is said cynically, then you stifle those still in the organization from revealing their thoughts in the only way they may know how at the time. Besides, Farkel had a pop at me on my "ideas" thread and then scampered off, so he evidently has an axe to grind with me for reasons known only to him. Otherwise, I probably would have completely ignored his comment. I find it baffling when people are overly critical on these forums when we are all on the same side.

I refer to it in hyphernated marks (i.e. "the Truth") - does this offend anyone?

Not offended by the punctuation, but the misspelling and misuse of the word hyphenated is a little offensive.

I apologise wholeheartedly for my misspelling!

I can't hear the term "The Truth" without wanting to stab someone through the neck. I hate all the JW-cult speak, especially the word "Jehovah"!
