The word "Armageddon" has been fading away from WT publications

I do think they use the word at CAs and DCs though.

Remember that the whole 1975 prophesy mess was mostly done at CAs and DAs by society speakers - especially by Franz himself.

They were much more circumspect about the date in the printed pages - almost as if they kind of knew they were playing with fire.

While they may be toning down the magazines (for purposes of historical prosperity), they still seem to be hammering hard on the end of the world in the assembly talks.

Kids growing up JW today will probably laugh at what the old timers were actually taught.

When I was growing up, I would stare with fear at the orange Paradise book's depiction of Armagedden showing big cracks widening in the ground and swallowing people up. We were threatened with "destruction at Armageddon" (literal words) if we didn't behave! Armageddon was a huge topic of discussion.

While that may be true Jonathon, I try to look at the context of warnings about Armageddon. To whom was Christ speaking? The Bible writers speaking, and why?

I agree with ShadesofGrey. Try searching for 'Great Tribulation' instead. At least Armageddon is regarded to be quick, while the GT would extend for many months, or perhaps years.
