JW Claims About Who Will Be Saved

    Hi Alan, Roarer, et al,

What I really love about the JW `who-makes-it-and who doesn't'' hodge-podge of teachings is the notion that since Gehenna is reserved only for the irredeemably wicked, history's most heinous villains, it stands that most of mankind goes to Sheol, ``mankind's common grave'' and are therefoe subject to recall via earthly resurrection.

Hence, according to the current JW mindset, that nice guy down the block or kindly uncle Ned and aunt Erma who somehow never managed to ``come around'' to the JW point of view during their lifetimes, are better off dead, because then they'll come back for another chance, whereas had they been unfortunate enough to be alive when the Big A struck, they were certain to have been incinerated!

How these latter gain ``brownie points'' witn God simply by having died too soon is unfathomable to me. Explain this to me please, you loyal lurking dubs!

This is becoming a huge point of contention in my marriage. How can I remain married to a person who beleives that I cannot serve God without actively associating with the 'true' Christian congregation.
My spouse really hates discussing this because she has to admit that I am not worthy of life(by her belief). My point to her is that if I am not even worthy of living how can I be worthy of a relationship with her as a husband or as a father to our son.

We are really having a hard time. We are to the point where we can't even really be together. Is there a middleground here? I dont see any. Help. -om

    nice alan.

hard to pin down the language in an analysis like this tho since, according to WT doctrine, anyone god judges as meriting life is by definition a witness of jehovah. so to say they teach only JWs will survive armaggedon is almost a tautology, dontcha think?

    Do you shun former members?

Those who simply cease to be involved in the faith are not shunned...
LIE!!! I left and it destroyed my life – everyone I ever knew treated me like trash.
Disfellowshipping does not sever family ties.
LIE!!! I wasn't even DFed, I simply left and my family only contacts me on limited occasions. I’m now the “black sheep” of the family.

What gets readers on sites like this is that there is always deniability... the site, after all, is not the official web site and therefore does not speak for the WTS.

    Believe in yourself, not mythology.

    Elsewhere,

You are mistaken when you state the jw-media.org site is not a official website of the organization. It certainly is. The header proclaims it to be the "authorized site" and the "Contact Us" link brings you to the Society's Office of Public Information.

The site is designed EXPRESSLY for favorable spin about the Society's activities and beliefs vis a vis the public and the unsuspecting media.

    AlanF,

    Another excellent expose!

    Excellent, Alan.

I can actually remember lying to people when asked the question, "are you the only ones to be saved". I lied to my older non-JW brother, when my JW brother's kids told the non-JW brother's kids that they would die if they didn't become JWs. When my non-JW brother asked me about it, I lied to his face. I wonder how many JWs lied through their teeth on this one.
