Wow, haven't really thought of that. The most I did was rip up my no blood card. I should put my dad (evil worldly guy) down as my primary emergency contact for work.
Since Leaving the JW's - Have you Changed your Medical Contact Person ?

MORBIDZBABY- That's good you have your boyfriend and other friends to be contacts for you. But just in case it might be good to get that in writing as I've seen really crazy JW relatives and elders do really crazy things about fading JW's health decisions. It's really good you are thinking about it.
BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS- Good idea. Most definitely if you have a non-Witness dad who would be your medical contact person, sounds like a great idea ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

I usually leave it blank these days. Somehow, all the "emergency contacts" were lost and I never got around to replacing them. However, when I applied for a passport (necessary if I should move to New Zealand or anywhere else, even before getting the visa), I put a new contact that was not a witless. I believe that would be much more reliable--rather than ensuring that I get dragged back into the cancer, they would be more interested in seeing the move completed.

Thanks Flipper!!!! I did this IN the hospital last week.Even tho I have POA and Guardianship, the dubs still had their paperwork w/the little drawing of the bag of blood with an x thru it...Im so glad that you brought this to everyones atention..Thanks for your call and for your support. btw,and hospital social worker can give you the blank forms to fill out and they only have to be signed by 2 witnesses{no,not THAT kind, lol}and they are legal. Then they will supercede all previous contacts..Its easy!

Flip, This is one of the very first things I did once I walked out the door. It was all changed to my "Non" witness family. I dunno if it'll do any good or not. Hell, we are all pushing the age to where it's borrowed time no matter how ya look at it...lol If they come to visit me in the hospital I'm gonna cough, spit and spew and maybe foam at the mouth and mumble some latin words like the excorcist... They won't stay after that..

Quirky, you can specify that you have no visitors except.....The hospital will try to honor this.I booted all dubs out of my mums room, calls, visits, cards, all out the door.

I think I have my non-JW dad down for emergencies, but my wife is still the default, really. I'm kinda screwed as far as that's concerned, short of making my law firm the decision-makers or something.
But it's cool. I'm ready to die for the sake of someone else's beliefs. "My soul is prepared! How's yours?"

I had a talk with my Doctor as soon as I began waking up to the real truth . In fact the blood issue WAS the thing that opened my eyes finally . I was still going to meetings I think ,but I told my Doctor to take the JW crap out of my records immediately ,and informed him from now on medical decisions would be made by MEDICAL personel not psuedo ministers . I told my husband of my decision right away too.
Just recently I had surgery, and a new Doctor . My husband was present when we discussed the possiblity of blood transfusion, and they both were clear what my wishes are now . But as Aquagirl stated ,get an updated medical power of attorney and legally state your wishes . When being admitted make sure they no longer have JW down as your religion ,I was asked if I had any religious preference for pastorial care while hospitalized .
