When I think of the biggest lie from the WTS, I think of 'Millions living now will never die'

Not the biggest lie, but one of the funniest to me is

"The date 1925 is even more distinctly indicated by the Scriptures than 1914 because it is fixed by the law God gave to Israel." Watchtower 1st Sept 1922

Bible teachings where there's a hidden agenda to sell and proliferate literature are bound to be false corrupt teachings.

There's always going to be more of a intension to create something for public appeal/interest.

This is more likely the very reason the first president of the WTS. (W Conley) left, dropping his financial support completely

and moved his religious interests to another religious foundation. Couldn't handle the crazy doctrines that Russell was propagating,

which were weakly speculative doctrines created more out of grabbing the publics attention to heighten interest in

published literature. The WTS. never really stopped being an organization of religious charlatans, the Kingdom Halls spread

all over the world are really instructional training centers, devised to train people to be door to door publishers for WTS. publishing

    company.

Making a guess or taking a shot at something is one thing, but, insisting that the guess isn't YOUR idea and blaming on God is another thing.

From the very beginning of Watchtower publication whoever was running the place always passed the buck to Jehovah and let Him take the rap!

Now this might not seem like blasphemy to the higher ups. They might well think: "We did what we Jehovah wanted us to do..." but, after all the failures, embarassments and reinterpretations wouldn't you think an HONEST thinker would get a clue??

Ahhh, but I said "thinker" and there isn't much rational thinking in the supreme council of the muckety mucks.

It is difficult to convince me at this late date anybody REALLY believed what they were printing and justifying.

Religion is the lie, Terry. The lies of the Watchtower are for the most part hand-me-down falsehoods from the minds of ignorant and primitive men who lived thousands of years ago, just conveyed with a different spin and with modern efficacy. Billions of pages in print seem to magnify the lie but in terms of the number of people who are or have been affected by it the Society actually stands small. Consider in context all the people who have suffered through the ages because they believed the lies of Islam (or Christianity, or Judaism, or _________, fill in the blank). The Watchtower has some cathing up to do.

I always found it interesting in how the WTS. exploited the gospel of the bible and the instruction to preach it into their own version of the gospel.

But I guess if you consider the fact that the WTS. gospels (doctrines) were constructed around a publishing house and its published

works, the reasoning becomes apparent, maybe even toward the obvious.

One cant help also wonder about C Russell's family profession in sales ( ie. wheat seeds, clothing ) played a roll in instigating his

endeavors in publishing religious pieces of literature. It certainly was a means to draw attention to himself and whatever he published.

The claimed foundation document of the Watchtower Society is the Bible. Some would claim that it is the Biggest Lie ever published. It contains the rotting germ of almost every single Watchtower teaching, from its repulsive demonzing of apostates through to its championing the use of shunning and tearing apart families. Who can forget Christ's words about the impact of his teachings on families? A peacemaker he was not and nor are the witnesses. Thank God for secular laws which ban stoning!

Punishment for old failed predictions isn't punished much in the forum of public opinion. Harold Camping got his comeuppance and has resigned from Family radio ( probably because the donations had dried up ), so unless the JWs do something massively stupid today, they probably won't suffer for yesterday's stupidity.

Because there is so much fear and guilt infused into the WTS doctrines and how they're implemented upon their following adherents,

the real Truth can be twisted with little recourse or expressed regret, 1975 is an example of this.

Creating little white lies to make " The Truth " , this is where religion always stands and shines alone as an idealogical concept.
