Mother discovers kid's self harm, asks why, accepts explanation of 'i dunno', ignores it,
a year later discovers it again and does not ask why, just declares that the kid will be pulled out of school and sent to another and be sent to a psychologist if it does not stop by new year.
WTF?
To me its like this woman is saying ''I don't care why you did it, i don't want to know, just stop it. If you don't i will take away all your friends''.

I wish I had raised self-healing children.
The worst part is that the status quo requires the kid to do it again before this mother will act appropriately and get some professional assistance.
Sounds like parent is more concerned with how the problem impacts her . . . not so much the kid.
Tis also made worse by the mother being a JW
typical head up own arse situation.
A mother is not the same thing as a 'mum'.

The problem is by not truly dealing with the issue then it will continue. Moving schools may add to stresses and she is also assuming that the school is the root cause of the issues. The only good thing is the idea of seeking professional assistance but the bad thing is further harm needs to take place first.
This woman is not dealing with this she is hoping the problem will go away. Young people can be emotional, sensitive beings for whom stresses are hard to manage, they need parents to be able to help them through their messy lives at this time.
The woman is completely out of her depth or to put it plainly, simply ignorant of what is going on for her child. It isn't peculiar to JW parents and sadly when parents are out of their depth, they do one of two things: Act as if it isn't happening or threaten consequences. A foundation parenting course in raising teenagers could help - but the parent has to have insight into their need to learn about skillful parenting.
This child is suffering inner emotional turmoil and does not know how to deal with it in a healthy manner .
Oz if this is your child ,or one you have any contact with i suggest addressing the issue immediately . No ignoring the issue IT IS REAL, and not going away . A school counselor could be the first step in the right direction . Take the initiative if you are in a position of influence .
This Mom is afraid to face the problem ,that is just not a good excuse when you are a parent .
There is a war coming.
