I think Simon has to be right. The idea has not to be not to fall over because you don't go as quick.

Of course, he deserved his gold medal. Staying on your skates is a huge part of winning. lol...One of Canada's medal hopefuls, Jeremy Witherspoon, fell in his race, and needless to say, didn't win. It is part of the sport.

Bradbury has had some really major injuries before, so maybe he deserves the medal for valor, just to take part in it again.

Congrats to the Aussies for the aerials win today as well.

Of course he deserved the gold. Remember the story of the tortoise and the hare? Bradbury was initially hoping for a bronze and stayed back because he knew a couple of guys will fall. He's worked hard for 10 years recovering from a broken neck and a gash to the thigh from skating accident.

Well he wouldn't have won if it weren't for that damn French judge. What? Oh, never mind, wrong thread.

Sure he deserved it, and yes he's a lucky guy. So what? I think Bradbury is yanking people's legs when he claims it was his strategy.

He didn't think he would win, he admitted that.

Ray Bradbury writes bizarre stories. Steve Bradbury lives them.

Absolutely, Steve deserves the Olympic Gold! And I'm not just saying that because I'm Canadian.

How do we aussies feel about it?

Princess, Mrs Ozzie and I couldn't get to bed last night - we were laughing so much! So how do the aussies feel about it? From emails and messages I can tell you, THEY THINK IT'S HILARIOUS!

No-one I know takes it seriously, just think it's a huge joke. We love it! There are times in life when it pays to not take everything too seriously and this was one of them.

You should hear his interview on Oz TV. He's totally bemused and thinks it's hilarious himself.

To add a serious note, however, Bradbury has a policy of racing in this way. He generally holds to the back in the hope of coming thru' late in the race.

Still, as far as this particular race, in his interview he was asked what he was thinking as he entered the final lap and he said: "I was just thinking that my legs bloody hurt and I'm going to come in fifth!!!"

    Happy days.

    Cheers,
    Ozzie

OK, after reading all your opinions I have come to the conclusion that Bradbury did indeed deserve the gold.

Thanks Ozzie, that settled it for me. He sounds like a funny guy who knows he is lucky as hell!

Congrats to the Aussie woman who won gold yesterday. I was watching the medal ceremony wondering when she was going to break down. She finally did at the end.

I have never heard your national anthem before. I mean no disrespect but I wonder, did the dubs use it to plagurize "To Whom Do You Belong?" It seems they don't have an original song and I frequently hear songs that obviously were the origninal inspiration.

I saw him on telly; he said he was hanging round the back hoping maybe he'd get a bronze if someone fell, and then bang bang bang, gold!

I thought, until then, they should have re-run it. But if he is so honest, he deserves the medal. He knew if was blind luck and was happy it was blind luck.
