Why do idiots walk around with phone ear pieces in when no one is calling?

My wife used to wear one while driving. And she left it in the car. Didn't use it anywhere else. I think that's a good use. Now you can hook your phone up to the car and have phone conversations over the sound system built in. That's even better...unless you've got a car load of people and you're getting a call back from the doctor reporting that the STD test came back positive.

It is irritating to be on the wrong side of a one way conversation when people are talking on them things. I was in a hotel lobby waiting on the elevator. Guy walks up and asks a question. Out of the blue. Kinda of a loud and brusque, obnoxious type. I didn't have a clue what he was talking about. I ignored him. He asked again. I said "excuse me? Are you talking to me?" Dude got all upset that I was bothering him. "No! I'm on the phone!" like I was interfering in a private conversation. The ear piece was on the other side and I didn't see it. I couldn't help myself... "My mistake. I thought you were just a dumbass talking to himself. But I see you're just a dumbass talking to a gadget in his ear. Carry on."

I think they can be annoying for instance when shopping and all of a sudden you hear someone talking behind or

beside you and you instinctively turn to respond. I cant count how many times thats happened to me.

Some people have good practical use for these devises such as talking while driving or they are constant on the phone when working and having

a hands free devise works in their favor.

Some people just wear them to make themselves look cool and distinctive.

I was one of those annoying persons with an earpiece in my ear 24/7. My job required this accessability to me from my clients. I was happy to throw out that ear piece when I changed areers

The ear piece was on the other side and I didn't see it.

There in lies the problem, for people who are holding a cell phone you can see what they are doing,

people holding a brief case or something else or has long hair, its easy to miss that the person has an ear piece on.

The other problem is because people are wearing a blutooth ear piece they instinctively think they have to talk louder than normal,

making their speech even more pronounced and acknowledged from other people in close proximity.

We once had a guy walk into an interview wearing one of those things. We couldn't stop laughing about it afterwards.

Funny subject because one of my co-workers does that. She's got the stupid thing in 8 hours a day, but I have yet to actually see her actually talking to anyone on it........I think it makes some people feel important..........

I don't see many people wearing those except for a sales guy that comes in about once a month.

But just my observation, I could've sworn these are the same things we used to make fun of people when cell phones used to come out. Now almost everyone has one and carries them around all the time. I know not the same thing, but still the comments about "they think they're important".

How about beepers? LMAO Now those were pretty funny.

Either they're idiots (and wasting the batteries, exposing their brains to stupid radiation for nothing, and exposing the pieces to needless wear and risk of loss), or they are listening to music on their phones.
