Has anyone seen this article in the Feb 1st 2012 WT?

It's worth a look. Lots of references to Christians, rather than JW's. Like one question was to ask the child how they feel about being a christian. Not a JW. A christian. also one box had this info under the Title "Deceived?"

Myth: Parents who are Jehovah’s Witnesses
force their children to follow their faith.

Fact:Witness parents strive to inculcate love
for God in their offspring, just as the Bible
commands them to. (Ephesians 6:4) Nevertheless,
they realize that when a child becomes
an adult, he or she will make a personal
    choice with regard to worship.
    —Romans 14:12; Galatians 6:5.

    Priceless

This is enough to make me take a trip to the nearest Branch and commit the worst mass murder this country has ever seen.

Well THAT's a big fat lie.

I tell everybody who will listen that JW's do not allow you to change your mind and you will be shunned by your parents and friends if you do.

    Well of course!

And if that son/daughter makes the wrong personal choice, well, "Christian" parents simply never speak to him/her again as long as they live!

How heart-warming it is to serve Jehovah!

yea I was directed to that issue because of the closet monkey thread and noticed the article. That is definately one of the biggest lies to date. There are so many talks given about children and if they don't believe, etc etc. They try to pass it off as a choice and quite frankly, there is no choice. Be a JW or get out and never receive a helping hand from us ever!

You are never given an option as a JW child. When I was a teen and going through some stuff (depression, my father's abandonment, etc.), there were many times that I refused to go to the hall, of course a huge fight would ensue between me and my mother. My mother would unplug the phone and take it with her, and I kid you not, on more than one occassion she took the TV with her, just so that I was not enjoying anything.

That article really pissed me off. I am starting to think the "public" WT is just a badly disguised "kool aid" Watchtower. More and more of the articles are just propaganda leading to the reader to the JWs as the "only true religion." Maybe that has how they have always been, and I just notice it more now.

That question/answer is completely misleading. They don't refute the myth, in fact the whole article is about how to "force" your child to be a JW. The refutation they give to the myth states the obvious, that adults can choose what they want to do. Of course no reference to the hell you will go through as a late teen or adult from your parents when you leave their little cult.

    Another thread on this FYI

    That is a Blatant Lie..

I don`t know of any JW kid that had a Choice..

    I never did..

    In Watchtower World..

Love for God = Love for the Watchtower..

JW parents will abandon their Adult Children for the Watchtower..

If they don`t make the right choice..

The WBT$ is misleading, decitful and out right lies as usual..
