I'm sure the Society has time and again praised people who did that when the Catholic Church was involved.

SD, I agree with all of your post, but the above quote really resonated. JW's LOVE to talk about the religions they left, love to hang onto every bad thing said, give cudos and applause when someone tells their story. In other words, they are judging their religions with their post membership eyes and not real eyes. Exactly as he claims apostates to the JW religion do. So freaking funny.

Interesting the official legal positions are no longer held by GB members. Think the WTS learnt a lesson back in WW1 when the got locked up for what was said in WT and books?

If legal issues raised over whats in print then they(GB) are not going to be arrested etc.

Same deal with "Christian Association of JW" that owns the kingdom halls in each country ( where laws make it relevant) so that if WTS is attacked legally or banned then the KH are not legally connected to WTS.

The old line "we(GB) do not credit anyone with authoring a article (obv Life stories do) to bring undue honour to them " doesnt wash anymore its to provide annonimity to GB and now the President of the WTS will ultimetly wear the can for whats written in the mags. Real nice

Here is a site wholly devoted to those Charts of the Ages popular around the time of William Miller the big daddy of all Adventists.

    http://stage.aurora.edu/academics/library/jenks-collection/photo-gallery.html#axzz1gdfk5BT7

The images are outstandingly preserved. You click on each one and you can magnify out all the details!

What a sense of obsessive-compulsive detail is in this one collection!

Russell was one of the sort of person totally mesmerized and astounded by the Divine Plan of the Ages which he himself concocted in the manner

    of the others he'd seen.

I'm very aware that many experiences Ray Franz related can't be verified by me personally; however, I can chuck every single one of them and use only Watchtower literature and still reach the same conclusion: there's a serious problem here, and it's time to get out.

Very well put sd-7. I too had already reached my own conclusion that the Society couldn't possibly be God's organization BEFORE I read Crisis of Conscience and learned of all the scandals, etc. The prophecies don't add up, the doctrine is flawed, there is way too much emphasis on the glorification of the organization and founding members - that alone does it for me. I don't doubt for a moment that Ray Franz wrote sincerely and accurately, but even if some of his claims can't be fully verified (for obvious reasons), it changes nothing.

On another issue - has anyone else noticed that one or two of the articles refer to apostates as "crackpots" quite frequently? What is it with that? I wonder if it's a spin-off of the mentally-diseased label....

If one believes the gospels, Jesus was the biggest apostate. Paul was a huge apostate, too. The Jewish Christians were all born Jewish. After Jesus death, they still went to the Temple. Stephen found out how Jews viewed apostates. It is very exciting to be in such exalted, divine company.

I thought the site would be more elegant from the word of mouth. Curious what the fascination is with Russell. If you are so threatened by apostates, I would stay away from Russell. The content was weird in its day. Divorced from that time period, Russell's teachings only shed a bright light on what nonsense Witness is and has been. Was it Russell or speculated where God lived physically? A constellation? NASA has prob. been there many times now.

Imagine the price of photos of Jehovah hanging out in his pajamas with untidy hair would fetch for the National Enquirer or Star.

I think the connection between Russell and present day Jehovah's Witnesses is something the Watchtower wants distance from as far as possible due to

the obvious crackpot nature of Russell's Pyramid teachings.

The internet has made this necessary: a full frontal assault on anti-JW writings and references.

The best way to do this is with an "unofficial" blog site from an unnamed personage.
