Very difficult to respond to these kind of emotional messages. When I get similar letters or emails , I have responded in the following way - I really don't know how it goes down , but at least it is a response of sorts. In the early months after I faded , I used to write longer messages but have long since learned my lesson - they invariably get twisted & end up biting me back - one brother who sent me a very similar email accused me angrily of "rejecting his help & knowing better than the GB" and tried to get me into trouble with my elders when I wrote a short letter , so it really isn't worth it.

Option 1 -very non-committal - " Thanks for your concern - I appreciate it & know that it comes from the best of intentions. "

Option 2 I sometimes add , depending on the individual - " If I may respond , in truth neither of us know for 100% sure whether or not either you or I will see my father again , or even whether he will be resurrected. Thankfully , neither you or I are the judge - that decision is in God's hands and he has appointed Jesus as the judge. "

"Let's keep the loving behaviour in our own hands and the judging of who will and will not make it in God's hands. Have a good day!"

shakyground..yours is a typical response..the JW's are so good at brainwashing they can make you feel like you are the one with a problem..only after you are out for a long while can you even hope to return to some sort of normalcy..

Coming here and venting/questioning can really be benificial for those with family /friends still in the religion..the JW's can really do a number on you and coming here makes you realize it is all a brainwashing scheme..(many don't even realize they are being brainwashed). They also don't realize how very hateful and hurtful they are..

Then you have those that use it to deliberately hurt people..

    Sorry, didn't read it all.........

BUT howbout something as "gracious" as (compared to others comments):

Dad was just one of those that believed he would be one of the ones prophecied by the Society from 1925 to recent year as "millions not living will never die".

Well, shit, he died. And so did ALL OF THOSE from 1925 onward who were told that.

How do you explain that they do not have false prophets within their midsts?

I've heard JWs laugh about Harold Camping being a false prophet. He was only wrong TWICE.
