LAST CALL: Give a piece of advice to JW's going into the New Year

  Here is my advice to Jehovah's Witnesses everywhere.

  It is okay to treat each day as if it were your last if it makes you more grateful, humble and kind.

  But, if it becomes your excuse for neglecting your life, your sense of charity, your education and your humanity---then, shut the hell up about END TIMES and make a new beginning.

  Start with here and now....today....improving this world any way you can. Stop thinking of everybody else as some kind of "enemy" that deserves to die if they don't read your magazine.

  The sooner you comprehend that your TRUTH is just another opinion the better off you'll be.

  Oh, and try loving people who don't think the same way you do.

  Start with those brothers and sisters you've been turning your back on. That's right: the one's you SHUN because you think you're better than they are.

  You are NOT! LOVE has nothing to do with snubbing some suffering soul with personal problems.

  Get a clue, Junior. LOVE means opening up and not shutting down. HELP somebody for real for a change. Judging people doesn't HELP THEM fer god's sakes!

  Buy a dictionary and study the word : Compassion. While you're in there, take a glance at : Hubris. Now chew on it for awhile.

  Swallow it with a gulp of champagne.

  Good post Terry. Compassion for anything or anyone outside the JW fold was one of the big issues that bothered me during my sentence in the organization.

  I'd say party in the New Year with pagan flair. Advice is a theoretical issue. People who are involved in high control groups have a lot invested in the group. Shunning by families and friends for such high crimes as having an opinion is a powerful factor. Fear motivates. It reminds me of substance abuse. Hopefully, something filters in and you are ready to act when you are capable.

  I was born-in so I knew nothing else. Being exposed to the secular world without judgment for a few days might be illuminating. All the repetitive tales of how woeful humans are take their toll. Education exposed me to a broader world. Crummy jobs also gave me insight. My teachers, classmates, neighbor's, etc. were clearly good people. What decent God would destroy them with sheer glee?

  I treasure my present life with a passion compared to the boredom and regimentation of the Witnesses.

  I just hate the way the JW''s feel so above everyone else like they have this in with God and are so privileged. If they could only see themselves as others who truly know them do they would understand that they are just pompous jerks.

  I'd love to know how any JW could say they "love their enemies".

  They are actually taught to NOT PRAY for ex-members!

  Imagine that, in the privacty of your own heart sitting on your bed in a locked room you are not ALLOWED to pray for former members.

  but you are so right they are telling us what we can even say to God. It is just so amazing that I could not see it for all of thoes years.

  Allow yourself to investigate the things you've mentally put in your 'wait on Jehovah'' file.
