The "education" you receive from Watchtower publications is waxed fruit that looks delicious, nutritious and beneficial for good health.

Just like counterfeit money looks like real money.

What happens if you feed on waxed fruit or try to spend counterfeit money?

The same thing that happens when you try to use your Watchtower education to cope with the real world!

You can't live a real life in a real world with real people with imaginary resources.

How is that for a fine introduction to your talk?

Somebody thought it was funny to give this talk to me.

Right on - I often got the same impression - seemed to be some kind of joke as to who got to do certain "Bible" topics - like masturbation, for instance.

Just for interest's sake, where's your source material supposed to be from?

Tell the audience how the Awake helped you pass your Calculus test in school....

  • I quit!
    I quit!

I'd incorporate Terry and Designs comments and Sabastious's picture into the talk. That would be a good start. You could also ask for a show of hands. "How many doctors in the audience? How many Scientist?...............

I think it's a good idea to pint out the many positions available to them with this education in the world. Who else are going to wash our dishes, sweep the floors, and clean the tables at restaurants. Also late night cleaning of office buildings and window washing. So much to live for just below the poverty level

    dear 2tone...

    good morning!...

you might start with the idea that God responds to a person with humility. someone who thinks they know it all is not open to being taught. Paul himself was one such person, being very knowledgable in the hebrew scriptures and all the interpretations given by those who were called SCRIBES he thought himself to be complete in knowledge because he was a PHARISEE who could teach these interpretations...ie. woe to you scribes and pharisees... Jesus was the only one who was able to break through his wall of resistance. Jesus was the only one who could humble this man. He had to "learn" to walk humbly with his God.

ask your audience if they are willing to humble themselves to God or if they believe that they are complete in their knowledge. can God take them to a place of complete divine education willingly or would He find Himself subjected to them...ie. Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?

    just an idea.

Paul was not a humble man in any time in his life, but had a psychological front of humility:

1 Cor 4 - 14 I am writing this not to shame you but to warn you as my dear children. 15 Even if you had ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel. 16 Therefore I urge you to imitate me. 17 For this reason I have sent to you Timothy, my son whom I love, who is faithful in the Lord. He will remind you of my way of life in Christ Jesus, which agrees with what I teach everywhere in every church.

18 Some of you have become arrogant, as if I were not coming to you. 19 But I will come to you very soon, if the Lord is willing, and then I will find out not only how these arrogant people are talking, but what power they have. 20 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power. 21 What do you prefer? Shall I come to you with a rod of discipline, or shall I come in love and with a gentle spirit?

If you want to council someone on humility, of which you have no grounds to anyway, use people of ACTUAL integrity, please. People like Ghandi, Jesus, Martain Luther King Jr etc. Paul was a tool.
