Jesus had other siblings and they had kids. So it,s safe

to say Jesus had nephews, nieces and other extended

family members. What happen, did they disown him?

The Saviour of mankind. The bible is very meticulous

about the genealogy of Jesus. Was there A deliberate

act to cut all ties with Jesus future kins.

That would be someone in the family tree you would

    make known.

    Good question!

Kinda odd that the alleged gospel writers (well 2) took great pains to track Jesus liniage back to adam but that they should just stop there.

Its not like his siblings were heathen seeing as 2 of them authored books of the NT.

The gospel writers decided such info was a distraction. I know James was his brother or so most of the texts I read state. It makes sense that he would be in a powerful position in the Jerusalem Jewish church. Frankly, they are creating theology as they write to deal with their current situations rather than what happened when Jesus was alive. Not knowing much about Jesus the man allows us to project our desires onto Jesus. Is the truth that important at this point in time? Katzenzakis The Last Temptation of Christ is one of my most treasured finds. He has the apostle Paul assert that the actual storyline does not matter. What people need to believe is important.

I don't know. Like most people, the Jesus/Mary Magdalene pairing has intrigued me. Something not reported seems to be going on. Dont know.

Within the past two years, there was some story about Jesus' family bones located at a place I can't recall. They were testing any DNA. It was all over the press for a few days and then disappeared into obscurity. I don't think I know enough terms for google.

His half- brother, James, put out a record album, "Top Jimmy and his rythym pigs" that did pretty good.

A pivotal time between Jesus death and Constantine since

it was only 300yrs. Some of Jesus kins still alive and possibly

knew he was A great, great, great uncle.

If James was Joseph's son from a prior marriage he prob. did have children. I feel sorry for his family. He leaves the carpentry practice, they must seek him out and he says that strangers are closer to him. Imagine parenting God. I can't think about it vividly b/c the possible details destroy any faith I have in the reality of the story. He must have something to do with settling accounts. Weird.

Why did no one write a biography in addition to a gospel? All these followers and no actual biography. Wondering about Jesus is a growth industry.

I wonder if anyone else reacts to what I call "spooky Jesus." Since I was in preschool, Jesus of Nazareth is fine and Christ is fine. The transition from God to human and human to God disturbs me for some reason I don't know. The Incarnation bothers me a bit. The post Resurrection appearances terrified me.In particular, his warning to Mary of Magdalene to not embrace him b/c he had not yet ascended terrified me. I could not understand it. My kid reasoning was that Mary would die if she touched him. Something was weird with his body. Later, a priest said it is in John and prob. never happened. John's poinit is that we tend to cling to human form when we need to move on. The Transfiguration and Ascension bother me, too. Once he is in a tangible form, I am not afraid.

Never knew whether I was weird or others viewed it the same way. I laugh about spooky Jesus. Protestants don't seem bothered by it.

Apart from the NT writings, there are no known records of Jesus that are anywhere near contempory. The reference in Josephus has been debunked.

The Gospels are full of problems too, Mark was not an eyewitness, who "Matthew" really was we do not know, Luke was not an eye witness and John was written very late, again, we can only trust that the writer is truthful.

But it is strange, if Jesus existed and was anything like the claims made for him, you would think that a near relative would have been proud to claim kinship.

I know the arguments presented to explain this, but some independant historical evidence for Jesus and from his kin is what you would expect if he truly were the Son of God.

    Spooky Jesus, funny.

People in Jesus day are no different then the folks

    in our day.

Think about it, lets say 100 yrs. after Jesus death, his

nephew sitting in the local pub or tavern drinking shots

    of wine with his comrades.

Jesus Nephew, " You know Jesus was my great uncle"

Comrades: get out of here, the one who perform all those

    miracles, turning water into wine.

Nephew: yes , I swear to him.

Comrades: prove it, make us some more wine.

You get my point, someone down the line would have

    spill the beans

Hell there would have been district assemblies showcasing

Jesus blood kin, giving the main talk.

Jam, The actual dialogue you wrote makes it so funny. I read a book that I saw on Amazon called The Gospel According to Bif, Jesus' childhood friend. Bif is brought back from the dead by an angel and forced to sit in an awful hotel in current Manhattan and write a better gospel than the others. They grew up together so he knows all Jesus' foibles. Jesus and he end up in China and India, interacting with prostitutes, before coming back for the ministry.

It was not great writing at all. The idea of it is so funny. Jesus had to have had a Bif someplace.
