Ummmm... peace to you all... and I think some of you may have missed the point of the thread (surprise), which I pointedly stated:
Again, I am not sharing the information for you to put faith in what itsays, but only to show that I am not the only one... and that there are others who have the same "issue" and understanding (as to the name "Jesus") and are entirely independent of [any knowledge] of me.
It was not about the name at all... but about the position of some that I, alone (and those "few" here who "follow" me - ) are the only ones who have this position. On occasion I am challenged to show where others do, as well. As I stated, I was made aware of this particular article just the day before yesterday. Of interest is that it was posted in 2001. That really was it and all.
If my memory serves, dear Shelby, and it is not reliable nowadays, I believe you have a thread or a post somewhere that explains fully why the name is as you say. Could you post a link please ? or if you have time post an explanation on here, for new members especially.
Lemme take a look, dear Wobble (peace to you, dear one!) and get back to you!
Bible names have always interested me , but this is more important than just surface meanings.
Yes, I understand...
The article in your link claims that Mary's native tongue was Hebrew ? I thought that Mary, and your Lord, were speakers of Aramaic as a first languge ?and then more likely Greek as a second, and Hebrew third ??
Aramaic... which is a form of Hebrew/Chaldean... thus, Hebrew... then Greek... is my understanding. Again, there are things in the article and site that disagree with my understanding... but that was not the point. I have not been sent to those dear folks, and so will put faith in my Lord's words that "he that is not against you is for you." We agree on THIS matter (the name "Jesus"), and that's was all I was conveying (that it's NOT just me... or people who know me).
I am not being rude here, but I am interested, when your Lord speaks to you, do you hear the actual voice, if so, what accent has the voice, or perhaps it is not as simple as that ?
I totally get that you are being sincere, dear one - no rudeness detected/assumed, at all. I do hear the actual voice. There's no accent, but there rarely is, is there, when one speaks the language? Since I am granted to hear in my language, English, however, there's no accent. My understanding, though, is that he is not SPEAKING in English, or Aramaic, or Hebrew, or Greek... but a language that came LONG for any of these ever existed. Some might call it the "tongue of angels," but it's not like the "tongue" that many who claim to speak "in tongues" (but have no idea what they're saying) use. That is something that makes absolutely NO sense to me. When my Lord speaks it is not IN English... but I "receive" it in English. As for Hebrew and Greek, I also HEAR both of those languages... as well as Aramaic... when he permits me to. That's what the gift of "interpreting tongues" allows its possessor to do: understand different languages as they're being spoken. I don't speak a single one, though. That's an entirely different gift ("speaking in tongues").
I don't understand why you make such a drama out of it.
No drama, dear Cofty (peace to you!). Just an update to the Household of God and those who go with... who deserve to know, IMHO. Now, if some who are NOT of that House... or don't believe themselves to be... like you... simply cannot help themselves and so open, read, and comment on the threads that I post of this nature... what can I do?
Dear N.Drew... the greatest of love and peace to you, dear one. Now... and forever.
Again, peace to you all!
A slave of Christ,
