Knorr was called the Pope by Bethelites back in the '70s. Then, there was the ruling one had to complete their 4-yr vow. If they left before that to marry, they left with a black mark,,could not have any position in congregation nor pioneer. If there were two single Bethelites that became engaged they could not marry and stay at Bethel unless the girl finished her 4 yr and the brother had at least 10 yrs at Bethel. My roommate called Knorr to me "the Pope" several times; she is still there. So calling any tough GB member a Pope, I could believe.
There was a big meeting at Bethel back '71 or '72 with Knorr, (I pretty sure also Larson and other Bethel overseers). Maybe about 80-100 there. A peaceful though scarey day. The "three Freds" organized a meeting in an effort to change some tough method controls at Bethel. The three Freds had been previous to Bethel circuits overseers. There was a strong current of fear that day. Outcome: the three Freds still remained at Bethel, though no doubt "shafted," a Bethel term for someone demoted to working the bindery or some other low position.
Then, we know how Ray Franz tried "peaceful."
A "corporate coup?" Don't know. Certainly, that was Rutherford's style and success, though not called "corporate coup." I think anything like that would still create hundreds of splinters as what happened with the "Worldwide Church of God" group.
Well, I will be watching/listening for Johnny's "preview" of the April 15 Watchtower before the copy goes on jw.org. (which goes on there in about 10 days or so)
p.s. I definitely believe it is possible for a Bethelite to have a very private conversation in his 'walk-in' closet in his room.
p.s.s. Also, does Johnny have a copy of the cartoon? Would love to see it?

Rick, there is a style to your BS. It has to be such way-over-the-top nonsense.

First of all, any ex-JW worth his weight in manure would know that there would be no such thing as a "tasteful" cartoon of the type you describe according to the GB. They would automatically find it shocking or untasteful. Heads actually would roll (out the door) over such a thing as you describe. If you wanted to make that cartoon the focus of your lies, where someone got sent home for it, you might have gotten some believers here. But NO. You had to turn it into your three-ring circus of lies. "Many axed, many investigations." People being sent home, tons of others working for reform implying that it started because of this cartoon incident.
By the time I got to the secret 3AM meeting, I was rolling on the floor laughing at your over-the-top lies. I already knew Johnny the Fake Bethelite was going to play into this somehow.
You certainly like to spin the thinnest of rumors into craziness and you never let go of your KNOWN lies about Johnny. Thanks for the laughs.

I think Rick and the Watchtower are in cahoots. Rick is very smart in his schemes, but nothing else. He understands that EX JW's want reform from within more than anything else, as it gives the best chance of reunification with their famlies (emotional hook), so that's what his construct showcases.
Allow me to elaborate on the logic. See, the recent changes, over the years, that the Watchtower have made have done nothing but make them look more and more like a cult. This is what they WANT, it's the only logical conclusion, so they can safely schism. What is being protected is the money of which the Watchtower works as a vault. They have always known that their days were numbered so they must have had a plan from the start. What would that plan involve?
- Make JW Cult LOOK like a cult to the rest of the world
- Get Governing Body in jail
- Tell Rank and File that the Great Tribulation has arrived
- Draw line in the sand
- Take the side with the most people on it
- Call that the new Jehovah's Witnesses
- Keep money with new religion
- Different family, same house
Now if this is true then I would guess Rick and Johnny know about it. This whole scheme is akin to eco-terrorism where a group CAUSES natural disasters to then uses their own destruction as evidence for their global agenda of control, power and money. For such a huge conspiracy like this to take place requires extortion and bribery it's the only way to do it. Extortion and bribes have been evolving right along side us every step of the way, we need to be more aware of the shysters!
I believe the Watchtower is creating their own schism I am almost sure of it and these people are trying to cash in on it. The lives of the people of the Watchtower have always been tossed about like this. It's gotta end, but I'm not sure how.

Yes, it has gone on far too long. It serves no useful purpose, and could well be harmful to honest newly exiting people who come here for support.
