    “TEMPORARY RESIDENTS”

    IN A WICKED WORLD

“In faith all these . . . publicly declared that they were strangers

and temporary residents in the land.”—HEB. 11:13.

    OPENING COMMENTS

I attended meetings with my jw mother while my non-jw father stayed home. I would see titles like this and would realize that my father (my mother was already married to my dad before she was a jw), his family, and his friends were considered wicked by the WTS just because they were not jws, that they had no hope of living through Armageddon unless they were baptized as jws.

But then I would look around the KH and see the jws who shunned me and my jw mother because my father was “wicked” and that we were like spiritual lepers, not to be asked to social events, might contaminate the children with 2 jw parents. I would see their “holy” children smoke, sneak out to date non-jws behind their parents back, lie about it, get pregnant at 15 and then treat me as trash. In my teenage years, 10 girls (with 2 jw parents) got pregnant out of wedlock, not one had a non-jw father.

It was hard for me to imagine that these jws would be in paradise or that I would want to live in a world with people like that.

    START OF ARTICLE

    1. What did Jesus say about the position of his followers

    with regard to the world?

“THEY are in the world,” said Jesus of his

disciples. But he explained: “They are no

part of the world, just as I am no part of the

world.” (John 17:11, 14) Thus, Jesus clearly

indicated the position of his true followers

with respect to “this system of things,”

whose god is Satan. (2 Cor. 4:4) Although living

in this wicked world, they would be no

part of it. Their situation in this system

would be that of “aliens and temporary residents.”—

    1 Pet. 2:11.

    COMMENTS

Jesus’ followers or Jehovah’s witnesses—How did Jesus identify his followers, jws or

    Acts 1:8—witnesses of Jesus?

True followers = are all people who claim to be Christian or true followers per the WTS? No, they are considered so-called or professed Christians.

Are these “Christians” really worshipping Satan per the WTS? Or does the WTS teach that all non-jws directly and indirectly worship Satan per 2 Cor. 4:4?

    *** w09 5/1p.20***

Satan craves worship and wants people, either knowingly or unknowingly, to give him such worship.

    *** w05 10/15 p.23 par.12***

Thus the first human pair rejected God’s right to rule over them and, in effect, became worshippers of Satan

    *** w90 12/1 p.6***

The apostle John said that “the whole world” is lying in his power, and Paul called him “the god of this system of things.” (1 John 5:19; 2 Corinthians 4:4) Hence, worship of any god apart from Jehovah is really worship of Satan.

    They Lived as “Temporary Residents”

2, 3. Why can it be said that Enoch, Noah, and

Abraham and Sarah lived as “strangers and temporary

    residents”?

2 From earliest times, faithful servants of

Jehovah stood out as different from those in

the ungodly world in which they lived. Before

the Flood, Enoch and Noah “walked

with the true God.” (Gen. 5:22-24; 6:9) Both

of them were courageous preachers of Jehovah’s

    judgments against Satan’s wicked world.

    (Read 2 Peter 2:5; Jude 14, 15.) Because

they walked with God in an ungodly

world, Enoch “pleased God well” and Noah

“proved himself faultless among his contemporaries.”—

    Heb.11:5; Gen. 6:9.

    COMMENTS

OT = Enoch/Noah (what happened to Noah’s wife and his sons and daughter-in-laws in this picture?)

faithful servants of Jehovah = in the NT were they “Jehovah’s witnesses” or Jesus witnesses (Acts 1:8)

Noah and Enoch had no relationship with Christ.

When Enoch was being persecuted, God took him off earth, killed him (per the WTS)….is that how God helped others who were persecuted or jws today?

    *** it-1 p.729 Enoch***

Instead, Jehovah “took him,” that is, cut short his life at the age of 365, an age far below that of most of his contemporaries. Enoch was “transferred so as not to see death,” which may mean that God put him in a prophetic trance and then terminated Enoch’s life while he was in the trance so that he did not experience the pangs of death. (Ge 5:24; Heb 11:5, 13) However, he was not taken to heaven, in view of Jesus’ clear statement at John 3:13.

3 At God’s invitation, Abraham and Sarah

gave up the comforts of city life in Ur of the

Chaldeans and accepted the challenge of living

as nomads in a foreign land. (Gen. 11:27,

28; 12:1) The apostle Paul wrote: “By faith

Abraham, when he was called, obeyed in

going out into a place he was destined to receive

as an inheritance; and he went out, although

not knowing where he was going. By

faith he resided as an alien in the land of the

promise as in a foreign land, and dwelt in

tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with

him of the very same promise.” (Heb. 11:

8, 9) Concerning such faithful servants of Jehovah,

Paul said: “In faith all these died, although

they did not get the fulfillment of

the promises, but they saw them afar off and

welcomed them and publicly declared that

they were strangers and temporary residents

    in the land.”—Heb.11:13.

    COMMENTS

    OT: Abraham and Sarah

Note that they were not poor, but quite wealthy living not in Coleman tents, but luxurious tents similar to the ones that Bedouins live all their lives in.

    http://www.eventparadise.com/newsletters/13/photos/45607/original/960x480bedouintentslounge1.jpg

But note that they had no expectation of seeing the fulfillment of the promises in their lifetimes that the families of the earth would be blessed by Abraham’s descendant….why then do jws expect a fulfillment in their lifetimes?

Hebrews 10:36 [fulfillment] in brackets in NWT but not other translations, why?

(Hebrews 10:36) . . .For YOU have need of endurance, in order that, after YOU have done the will of God, YOU may receive the [fulfillment of the] promise. . .

    A Warning to the Israelites

    4. What warning were the Israelites given before

they became residents in their land?

    4 Abraham’s descendants, the Israelites,

became numerous and were eventually organized

into a nation with a law code and a

land. (Gen. 48:4; Deut. 6:1) The people of Israel

were never to forget that the real Owner

of their land was Jehovah. (Lev. 25:23) They

were like tenants obliged to respect the Owner’s

wishes. Moreover, they were to remember

    that “not by bread alone does man live”;

they were not to let material prosperity

cause them to forget Jehovah. (Deut. 8:1-3)

Before settling in their land, the Israelites

were given this warning: “It must occur that

when Jehovah your God will bring you into

the land that he swore to your forefathers

Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to give you, great

and good-looking cities that you did not

build, and houses full of all good things and

that you did not fill, and cisterns hewn out

that you did not hew out, vineyards and olive

trees that you did not plant, and you shall

have eaten and become satisfied, watch out

for yourself that you may not forget Jehovah.”—

    Deut. 6:10-12.

    COMMENTS

Material prosperity….so how much stuff is too much? Or is it as the WTS says it is your attitude towards it; using weasel words to protect the wealthy jws in their midst?

    *** g9/10 p.30***

The Bible does not condemn wealth . In fact, many of God’s servants in the past were wealthy. (Genesis 25:5; 26:12-16; Job 1:1-3) However, those who are rich do well to keep in mind that a ‘showy display of one’s means of life does not originate with the Father but originates with the world.’ (1 John 2:16) Moreover, the apostle Paul said: “The love of money is a root of all sorts of injurious things.” He noted that by sacrificing spiritual concerns out of a desire to be rich, “some have been led astray from the faith and have stabbed themselves all over with many pains.” (1 Timothy 6:10) Of course, God’s Word does not show that those who are wealthy ought to feel guilty because they have more than others. Christians are encouraged “to be liberal, ready to share,” no matter how little or how much they may have materially.—1 Timothy 6:18.

OT==do not forget Jehovah….what about Christians and remember Jesus?

    5. Why did Jehovah reject Israel, and to what new

nation did he transfer his favor?

5 This warning was not unfounded. In Nehemiah’s

day, a group of Levites recalled

with shame what occurred after the Israelites

took possession of the Promised Land.

After the people of Israel occupied comfortable

houses and had an abundance of food

and wine, “they began to eat and to be satisfied

and to grow fat.” They rebelled against

God, even killing the prophets he sent to

    warn them. Jehovah therefore abandoned

them to their enemies. (Read Nehemiah

9:25-27; Hos. 13:6-9) Later, under Roman

domination, the faithless Jews went so far as

to kill the promised Messiah! Jehovah rejected

them and transferred his favor to a new

    nation, spiritual Israel.—Matt. 21:43; Acts 7:

    51, 52; Gal. 6:16.

    COMMENTS

Except for Galatians 6:16 did the NT Christians view themselves as “spiritual” Israelites?

Has the WTS replace Jesus with the FDS/GB/WTS?

“Jehovah’s Witnesses” rather than witnesses of Jesus (Acts 1:8)

Jesus not mediator for numberless great crowd, only 144,000 anointed

    “No Part of the World”

6, 7. (a) How would you explain what Jesus said

about the position of his followers with regard to

the world? (b) Why were true Christians not to become

    a part of Satan’s system?

6 As shown earlier in this article, the Head

of the Christian congregation, Jesus Christ,

made it clear that his followers would be separate

from the world, Satan’s wicked system

of things. Shortly before his death, Jesus told

his disciples: “If you were part of the world,

the world would be fond of what is its own.

Now because you are no part of the world,

but I have chosen you out of the world, on

this account the world hates you.”—John

    15:19.

Every non-jw is wicked and under Satan’s control?........

Who is the “world”? Every non-jw

True Christians = only jws (only anointed?)

    *** w08 8/15p.6 par.13***

However, only among true Christians do we find genuine anointed ones, making up “a royal priesthood.”—1 Pet. 2:9; Rev. 14:1-5.

7 As Christianity spread, were Christians

to come to terms with the world, conforming

to its practices and becoming a part of it?

No. Wherever they lived, they were to distinguish

    themselves from Satan’s system. Some

30 years after Christ’s death, the apostle Peter

wrote to Christians living in different

parts of the Roman world: “Beloved, I exhort

you as aliens and temporary residents to

keep abstaining from fleshly desires, which

are the very ones that carry on a conflict

against the soul. Maintain your conduct fine

    among the nations.”—1 Pet. 1:1; 2:11, 12.

    COMMENTS

Part of it..no…but jws have tvs, computers, use the internet, listen to music by non-jws, wear clothing styles purchased from worldly stores, not like the Israelites whose clothing marked them as different; Jewish Christians continued identifying with the rejected Israelite nation; Romans did not grow their hair and the Jews did not cut their beards…..Christians had slaves although it was not in harmony with a free spiritual nation.

The WTS lobbies the government and jws accept government benefits, even military ones.

    8. How did one historian describe the relationship

of early Christians to the world?

8 Confirming that early Christians conducted

    themselves as “aliens and temporary

residents” in the Roman world, historian

    Kenneth Scott Latourette wrote:

“It is one of the commonplaces of history

that in its first three centuries Christianity

met persistent and often severe persecution

. . . The accusations varied. Because they refused

to participate in pagan ceremonies the

    Christians were dubbed atheists. Through

their abstention from much of the community

    life—the pagan festivals, the public

amusements which to Christians were shot

through and through with pagan beliefs,

    practices, and immoralities—they were derided

as haters of the human race.”

    COMMENTS

So who is Kenneth Scott Latourette, what time frame, what else has he written that might not be in harmony with WTS beliefs?

Not Using the World to the Full

    9. As true Christians, how do we give proof that we

are not “haters of the human race”?

9 What is the situation today? With regard

to “the present wicked system of things,” we

maintain the same stance as did the early

Christians. (Gal. 1:4) Because of this, we are

misunderstood by many and are even hated

by some. Yet, we certainly are not “haters of

the human race.” Out of love for fellow humans,

we go from house to house, making

every effort to contact each occupant with

the “good news of [God’s] kingdom.” (Matt.

22:39; 24:14)We do this because we are convinced

    that Jehovah’s Kingdom government

under Christ will shortly put an end to imperfect

human rulership, replacing it with a

    righteous new system of things.—Dan. 2:44;

    2 Pet. 3:13.

    COMMENTS

Replacing 7 billion non-jws with the WTS organization.

Are jws misunderstood or do the misrepresent their beliefs especially to potential converts waiting until they are more able to “accept” the teaching such as all non-jws being destroyed at Armageddon, all non-jw men, women, and children even if they have not had an individual witness even once by a jw?

    *** w89 9/1 p.19 par.7***

Only Jehovah’s Witnesses, those of the anointed remnant and the “great crowd ,” as a united organization under the protection of the Supreme Organizer, have any Scriptural hope of surviving the impending end of this doomed system dominated by Satan the Devil. (Revelation 7:9-17; 2 Corinthians 4:4) They will make up the “flesh” that Jesus Christ said would be saved through the worst tribulation of all human history. As it was in the days of Noah, said Jesus, so it would be in the day when He would be revealed.

    http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/salvation-only-for-jehovahs-witnesses.php

    *** w00 1/15 p.13 par.17***

Fifth, we see a global preaching work being accomplished, which Jesus said would take place just before the end of this system. Jesus stated: “This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14) Today, that prophecy is in the course of fulfillment on an unprecedented scale. True, untouched territories still exist, and it may be that in Jehovah’s due time, a large door leading to greater activity will open. (1 Corinthians 16:9) Nevertheless, the Bible does not state that Jehovah will wait until every individual on earth has received a personal witness. Rather, the good news must be preached to Jehovah’s satisfaction. Then the end will come.—Compare Matthew 10:23.

SHORTLY put an end (announced since 1879 till today with 1914, 1925, 1975, false starts as to the date)

The early Christians abstained from violent and immoral

    entertainment

10, 11. (a) How do we make limited use of the

world? (b) What are some ways in which vigilant

Christians refrain from using the world to the full?

10 In view of the imminent end of the

present system of things, as Jehovah’s servants

we realize that this is no time to settle

down in this dying world. We heed the apostle

Paul’s words: “This I say, brothers, the

time left is reduced. Henceforth let those . . .

who buy [be] as those not possessing, and

those making use of the world as those not

using it to the full; for the scene of this

world is changing.” (1 Cor. 7:29-31) But how

do present-day Christians make use of the

world? They do this by using modern technology

    and means of communication to

spread Bible knowledge worldwide in hundreds

of languages. They make limited use

of the world to earn a living. They purchase

necessary goods and services made available

in the world. However, they avoid using

the world to the full in that they keep worldly

possessions and occupations in the proper

    place.—Read 1 Timothy 6:9,10.

    COMMENTS

    IMMINENT END = 1914, 1925, 1975, 1914 generation (1879 to 2012 = 133 years, only 120 years for Noah’s generation)

    Jehovah’s servants = not Christians?

    Present-day Christians = only jws

If the WTS is using “modern technology” today; why no radio or television shows?

Limited use…make a living = so what is the highest limit allowed for jws?

What goods are necessary per the WTS?

What is the “proper place” for possessions or occupations….is window cleaning better than being a lawyer…why is it that the WTS sent Bethelites to law school and other training?

Why does the WTS feel it is proper to accept the tax status for religions in the US thus not paying for the services the government provides? Ulster County (Wallkill WTS buildings) is very poor and the WTS has taken a great deal of land off the tax rolls. Is it surprising that they are not viewed well by the taxpayers in that county?

11 Vigilant Christians refrain from using

the world to the full with regard to higher

education. Many people in this world

    consider higher education an indispensable

stepping-stone to prestige and an affluent

life. But we Christians live as temporary residents

and pursue different goals. We avoid

“minding lofty things.” (Rom. 12:16; Jer.

45:5) Since we are Jesus’ followers, we heed

his warning: “Keep your eyes open and

guard against every sort of covetousness, because

even when a person has an abundance

his life does not result from the things

    he possesses.” (Luke 12:15) Consequently,

young Christians are encouraged to pursue

spiritual goals, getting only as much education

as is required to meet their basic needs

while focusing on preparing themselves to

serve Jehovah ‘with their whole heart, soul,

strength, and mind.’ (Luke 10:27) By doing

so, they can become “rich toward God.”

    —Luke 12:21; read Matthew 6:19-21.

    COMMENTS

Higher education – beyond high school (which is required in the US)

An affluent life or prestige – or rather a job that pays the basic bills

We Christians = only jws are Christians

Young Christians = children of jws only

How much education is required? Can even non-jws find jobs that don’t require education beyond high school?

    http://www.gse.harvard.edu/news_events/features/2011/Pathways_to_Prosperity_Feb2011.pdf

In 1973, nearly a third of the

    nation’s 91 million workers were high-school dropouts,

while another 40 percent had not progressed beyond

a high school degree. Thus, people with a high-school

education or less made up 72 percent of the nation’s

workforce. In an economy in which manufacturing

was still dominant, it was possible for those with less

education but a strong work ethic to earn a middle class

wage, as 60 percent of high school graduates did.

By 2007, this picture had changed beyond recognition.

While the workforce had exploded nearly 70 percent to

154 million workers, those with a high school education

or less had shrunk to just 41 percent of the workforce.

Put another way, while the total number of jobs in

America had grown by 63 million, the number of jobs

held by people with no post-secondary education had

actually fallen by some 2 million jobs. Thus, over the past

third of a century, all of the net job growth in America

has been generated by positions that require at least

    some post-secondary education.

Can young jws afford to get married and have children on a high school education? Is the WTS betting that the END comes soon before they get married and have children?

"Many schools now have student counselors who encourage one to pursue higher education after high school, to pursue a career with a future in this system of things. Do not be influenced by them. Do not let them "brainwash" you with the Devil's propaganda to get ahead, to make something of yourself in this world. This world has very little time left! Any "future" this world offers is no future! Wisely, then, let God's Word influence you in selecting a course that will result in your protection and blessing. Make pioneer service, the full-time ministry, with the possibility of Bethel or missionary service your goal. This is a life that offers an everlasting future!" Watchtower 1969 Mar 15 p.171

"If you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things. Why not? Because all the evidence in fulfillment of Bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years. Of the generation that observed the beginning of the "last days" in 1914, Jesus foretold: "This generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur."-Matt. 24:34. Therefore, as a young person, you will never fulfill any career that this system offers. If you are in high school and thinking about a college education, it means at least four, perhaps even six or eight more years to graduate into a specialized career. But where will this system of things be by that time? It will be well on the way toward its finish, if not actually gone!"Awake!1969 May 22 p.15

Avoid Being Weighed Down by the Anxieties of Life

12, 13. How does our heeding Jesus’ words recorded

at Matthew 6:31-33 distinguish us from people in

    the world?

12 Jehovah’s servants differ from people of

the world in their attitude toward material

things. In this regard, Jesus told his followers:

“Never be anxious and say, ‘What are we

to eat?’ or, ‘What are we to drink?’ or, ‘What

are we to put on?’ For all these are the things

the nations are eagerly pursuing. For your

heavenly Father knows you need all these

things. Keep on, then, seeking first the kingdom

and his righteousness, and all these

other things will be added to you.” (Matt. 6:

31-33) From personal experience, many of

our fellow believers have found that our

heavenly Father supplies the things they

    need.

    COMMENTS

Jehovah’s servants or witnesses of Jesus (Acts 1:8)?

Note that it is not having material things that matters to the WTS but your “attitude.”

Can you think of ways the WTS says God supplies these things….? Through the Red Cross and the Salvation Army? Through government agencies doomed to be destroyed soon and under Satan’s control? A food bank sponsored and manned by a religious organization? I never heard of jws helping anyone materially, they tended to be the James version of saying be “warm and well fed” without action.

The elders are instructed to help poor or older jws fill out the government forms though….!

    *** w06 6/1 p.6***

What, though, if an older brother or sister in the congregation is in dire straits, perhaps needing financial assistance? First, it would be good to find out if there are children or other relatives who can help. (and this includes non-jw relatives) This would be in line with what is stated at 1 Timothy 5:4: “If any widow has children or grandchildren, let these learn first to practice godly devotion in their own household and to keep paying a due compensation to their parents and grandparents, for this is acceptable in God’s sight.” It may be that the elderly one needs assistance in determining if he or she is eligible for any provisions that the government makes available.

13 “Godliness with contentment is great

gain.” (1 Tim. 6:6, New International Version)

That is the very opposite of the viewpoint

of people in today’s world. For example,

when young people get married, many

of them expect to ‘have it all’ right away—a

house or an apartment fully furnished and

well-equipped, a nice car, and the latest electronic

    devices. However, Christians who live

as temporary residents do not let their desires

go beyond what is reasonable and possible

for them. Indeed, it is commendable

that many forgo certain material comforts

in order to devote more time and energy to

Jehovah’s service as zealous Kingdom publishers.

Others serve as pioneers, at Bethel,

in the traveling work, or as missionaries.

How much all of us appreciate the wholehearted

service of our fellow worshippers of

    Jehovah!

    COMMENTS

Note that the WTS again quotes from a bible other than the NWT (the NIV) although counseling jws not to do so.

Do you find that young jws are just the same, expecting mommy and daddy to pick up the bill?

So what is better, a junky car that is a “bad witness” that requires many dollars to keep on the road or a “nice” car?

With the WTS cutting back on staff at Bethel, what are they saying here, speaking out of both sides of their mouths again?

Paul said he was a public servant of Jesus………

(Romans 15:15-16) . . .However, I am writing YOU the more outspokenly on some points, as if reminding YOU again, because of the undeserved kindness given to me from God for me to be a public servant of Christ Jesus to the nations, engaging in the holy work of the good news of God,. . .

    14. What lesson can we draw from Jesus’ parable of

    the sower?

14 In his parable of the sower, Jesus said

that “the anxiety of this system of things and

the deceptive power of riches” can choke the

word of God in our hearts and cause us to become

    unfruitful. (Matt. 13:22) Our living

contentedly as temporary residents in this

system of things helps us to avoid falling into

this trap. Instead, it enables us to keep our

eye “simple,” or “in focus,” looking “all one

way” toward God’s Kingdom and keeping its

interests first in our lives.—Matt. 6:22, ftn.

    COMMENTS

Remember that in 1969 young jws were told not to get an advanced education because the END was coming in just a few years…43 years later most are 60 or older and approaching retirement.

What is simple…and remember this advice is from people who have the food, housing, and medical provided to them.

    “The World Is Passing Away”

    15. What words of the apostle John determine the

outlook and conduct of true Christians toward the

    present world?

15 A fundamental reason why we as true

Christians consider ourselves to be “aliens

and temporary residents” in this world is

our conviction that its days are numbered.

    (1 Pet. 2:11; 2 Pet. 3:7) This outlook determines

our choices in life, our desires, and

our aspirations. The apostle John counseled

fellow believers not to love the world or the

things in the world because “the world is

passing away and so is its desire, but he

that does the will of God remains forever.”

    —1 John 2:15-17.

    COMMENTS

True Christians – all non-jws who say they are Christians are FALSE Christians

DAYS ARE NUMBERED – 1969 to 2012 (15,695 plus days)

He who does the will of the WTS/FDS/GB remains forever……

    16. How can we show that we have been set apart as

    a distinct people?

16 The Israelites were told that if they

obeyed Jehovah, they would become his

“special property out of all other peoples.”

(Ex. 19:5) When faithful, Israel differed from

all other nations in worship and way of life.

Similarly today, Jehovah has separated for

himself a people who are markedly different

from Satan’s world. We are told: “Repudiate

ungodliness and worldly desires and . . . live

with soundness of mind and righteousness

and godly devotion amid this present system

of things, while we wait for the happy

hope and glorious manifestation of the

great God and of the Savior of us, Christ Jesus,

who gave himself for us that he might

deliver us from every sort of lawlessness and

cleanse for himself a people peculiarly his

own, zealous for fine works.” (Titus 2:11-

    14) This “people” is made up of anointed

Christians and millions of Jesus’ “other

sheep,” who aid and support them.—John

    10:16.

    COMMENTS

Jws are told that if they obey the WTS/FDS/GB….

Paul in Titus is only talking about anointed Christians---other sheep, Gentile anointed Christians

According to the WTS only jws are the other sheep; all non-jws are not part of the block and are doomed to eternal destruction, all 7 billion plus men, women, children and babies.

    17. Why will the anointed and their companions

never regret having lived as temporary residents in

    this wicked world?

17 “The happy hope” of the anointed is

that of reigning with Christ in heaven. (Rev.

5:10) When the hope of eternal life on earth

is fulfilled for the other sheep, they will no

longer be temporary residents in a wicked

world. They will have beautiful homes and

an abundance to eat and drink. (Ps. 37:10,

    11; Isa. 25:6; 65:21, 22) Unlike the Israelites,

they will never forget that all of this is from

Jehovah, “the God of the whole earth.” (Isa.

54:5) Neither the anointed nor the other

sheep will regret having lived as temporary

    residents in this wicked world.

    COMMENTS

Did you know that the WTS teaches that since 1918, anointed Christians have been resurrected and are now reigning in heaven with Christ and will participate in the destruction at Armageddon?

Eternal life on earth will not be fulfilled for the “other sheep” until the end of the 1,000 year reign and they pass the final test from Satan.

    How Would You Answer?

In what way did faithful men of

    old live as temporary residents?

How did the early Christians conduct

    themselves with regard to

    the world?

How do true Christians limit their

    use of the world?

Why will we never regret having lived

as temporary residents in this wicked

    world?

    CONCLUDING COMMENTS

Next week, the real issue in the WTS, the lack of ministerial servants and elders, or effective and obedient ones. I was in a congregation with 8 ex-elders more than the number of current ones…why, they all were tired of the abuse and hypocrisy among the elders.

How you manage to stomach the lies in the Watchtower study to do this so regularly and so thoroughly.... I don't know! However, I've got to say that it's a fantastic job you do, Blondie

I've no doubt that your comments go a looong way in helping lurkers and fence-sitters to see more clearly the deceitful nature of the WBTS so, round of applause to you for the brilliant effort and a hearty 'Thank You!' as well!

I never, and still do not understand, the difference of a young Witness graduating high school and going to college vs. getting a job.

Most young Jehovah's Witnesses do not pioneer. But,it's seems to be more acceptable among the Witnesses for one to get a job right out of high school vs. going to college.

It makes me angry, that they still are against higher education.

I enjoy the loaded language of paragraph 11:"Vigilant Christians refrain from using the world to the full with regard to higher education. "

So, we're not saying that you aren't a Christian, you're just not vigilant!

If the lifespan of humans is about 80-90 years aren't ALL people "Temporary Residents"? Why waste what few years we have plodding from d2d and sitting through painfully dull meetings. There is so much to learn and so few years in which to learn it.

I am one of those young people who read that WT march of 1969 in my senior year of HS. I was strongly influenced by the attitude of the WT$ not to bother learning anything becuse to do so was "like playing shuffleboard on the Titanic" I feel like an idiot now in more ways than one.

Thanks Blondie, for your commentery and WT quotes. Those that were not in the Borg during the late 60s and early 70s may not realize how emphatic they were about the Great Tribulation being OVER on or before 1975. "Evidently" was not used in talks about the "End" at that time "certainly" was the word . The audasity of the GB blaming the flock for "jumping to conclusions" is infuriating. I KNOW what was said by their representives, COs and DOs I was THERE and I was listening. (unfortunately)

"Where not haters of the human race" because they go door to door. That one cracked me up! Much better ways available for reaching people.

    Many people in this world
    consider higher education an indispensable
stepping-stone to prestige and an affluent
life. But we Christians live as temporary residents
and pursue different goals. We avoid
"minding lofty things." (Rom. 12:16; Jer.
    45:5)

Recently at an assembly the speaker said he would show a scripture that would prove getting further education is wrong. He read (1 Corinthians 8:1) . . .Knowledge puffs up. . . His comment went well with this paragraph. But I was looking at my bible going what the?

Also I wish I would have become a doctor. I wish this so I could help people, not to step-stone up to be prestigious. NO BALANCE in this article. In fact the only balance was offered through some of the commentors at the meeting.

    "From personal experience, many of
our fellow believers have found that our
heavenly Father supplies the things they
    need."

No crap!!!! but they also know it will not fall out of the sky and they must do their part.

Nice job blondie!!! I was sitting there during the watchtower study on each paragraph and thinking " I wonder what blondie will say to this"
