I am still brainstorming my insurance dilemna. Any suggestions on companies that offer health insurance to part timers. Either kinds of companies or specific companies that you know of.

Without more info its hard to get a specific insurance company to fit your needs Joel. Depending on what type of work you do, there are lots of associations that offer insurance plans to thier members, like the legal profession, sales people, consultants, etc. The best place to start is any professional organization you might be a part of, or could be a prt of based on whatever kind of work you do. The following URL is a simple search, but you will see what I'm talking about after you browse through.

    Joel,

Try going and getting a business license (should cost you $25 bucks) and set up a little home based business as a 'consultant'.

You can then join your local Chamber of Commerce which does offer group health insurance to its member organizations. At least that's the way most chambers operate.

lists http://www.simplyhealth.com as a partner. Check it out.

If you have kids you can get Peachcare for them. Blue Cross offers their COBRA policy. If you had a full time job, and they cut you to part-time, you could extend your existing policy by paying for the supplemental insurance. The only insurance I know for part-timers is medicaid..if you are eligible.

Any medical insurance you pay can be considered tax-deductible.

Joel, I know that it's tough finding insurance, and continuing your old plan is still about 200-300 dollars per month.

    Good luck.
