Rand Paul Detained by TSA

Rand Paul set off the scanner at the airport. They wanted to do a full body patdown. He refused it and asked to be scanned again. He said it had to be a glitch, and pulled up his pant leg to show there was nothing there (the leg that set off the scan). They refused to scan him again (what??? power hungry), and he still refuses the pat down. It's a standoff. Rand can't get back to D.C. at the moment.

I just found this interesting, and thought it might start an interesting conversation. Why didn't they just let him walk through the scanner again? They do it all the time. Is it because he has been so vocal with his criticisms against the TSA? Is this a political move? And . . . will Rand Paul cave and submit to the pat down? Are they out of control?

    Are they out of control?

Yes. They are poorly trained, and for the most part, unintelligent dolts. Have you ever had a conversation with any of them? I have and I was surprised at how unbelievably stupid and simple minded they are. Do they really believe a senator or congressman (regardless of party) are a threat to the airlines. For god's sake, these are the same people who voted to put the TSA into existence in the first place!!!!

Newer reports are saying that he wasn't actually "detained". That's the TSA story. Paul's aides are saying he was detained. Apparently this is a semantics argument---but apparently he is at the airport but not in custody. Still can't fly though.

Why not submit to the pat-down? Seems weird.

    Off an Anon board:

TSA: Our X-ray machine is broken. Can we touch your penis?
    Rand: Fuck no
TSA:This senator is clearly a terrorist.

Paul is back in DC. He'll be talking about this on Fox Business tonight.

    “The Senators and Representatives...

They shall in all cases, except treason, felony and breach of the peace, be privileged from arrest during their attendance at the session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any speech or debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other place."

Incidentally, Rand Paul was on his way to filibuster PIPA when they detained him.

Apparently the Nashville airport that detained him has been flooded with angry phone calls.

Because of the principal. Rand Paul has been exceedingly vocal about loss of personal liberty and privacy when it comes to the TSA. To just submit would weaken his message. If he wanted to draw more attention and debate to the issue, he certainly has been successful.

RAND PAUL HAS OCCUPIED THE AIRPORT! LOL
