Jesus “Was” but not “IS” Michael!

Jesus is reported to have sent his angel on occasion ... perhaps the reason there seems to be a connection between Michael and Jesus is that Michael is a personal messenger of Jesus ... his angel.

Also ... is Jesus ever referred to as "Son of God" in his prehuman existence? We know he is referred to as "The Word", but doesn't "Son" apply exclusively to his condition after being born from man ... which would technically make him at that point both "Son of Man" and "Son of God"?

Couldn't Jesus being the "only-begotten Son of God" refer to this one and only man's unique and miraculous birth ... the only-begotten from God but born from the womb of a human?

    Hmmm makes perfect sense.

If I was god and wanted to write to my bedwin, illiterate, subjects I would definetly mix up the shizzle by changing people's names... Not like it means life n death or anything....

the last thing free thought you need to be worrying about is this boring old pointless argument, you should be focusing on things far more meatier from your "brothers" of the GB and writing depts, perhaps your organizations treatment of child rapists, membership of the UN an over 100 year record of failed prophecy and false doctrine, the way your own brothers were treated in Malawi, how 2 homosexual members of your GB were allowed to sodomize in the House of Jehovah for decades.............

    free thought,

Why don't you take your "free thought" to the body of elders in your congregation and see just how much respect you get for thinking freely. As they have stated in their literature many times, the WTS does not believe the annointed are anything special....it's only the Governing Body that is special.

I questioned something years ago and took it to the elders. I was young and naive. They told me sternly that I thought too much and it just showed I was spiritually weak. I suspect they will tell you the same thing...annointed or not.

free thought, here is what your "leaders" think of you- August 2011 WT

Memorial partakers. This is the number of baptized individuals who partake of the emblems at the Memorial worldwide. Does this total represent the number of anointed ones on earth? Not necessarily. A number of factors-including past religious beliefs or even mental or emotional imbalance-might cause some to assume mistakenly that they have the heavenly calling. We thus have noway of knowing the exact number of anointed ones on earth; nor do we need to know. The Governing Body does not keep a list of all partakers, for it does not maintain a global network of anointed ones

I always thought that this Jesus = Michael doctrine of the JW was another manifestation of their absolute hatred of the idea that Jesus was divine in nature.

I.E. - if he was Michael, it proves he was not God.

Most JW teaching about Jesus eventually diminishes his position in their theology - presumably to magnify their "Jehovah" image.

Does anyone know where this Jesus=Michael started in a broad religous context? Did the Millerites practice Arianism? Adventists? Russell?

We know the WTBTS is not inspired by God. I assume there was a larger movement that the Witnesses borrowed from. Most people have no clue that they Arian. If I wanted to worship YHWH, I would be born Jewish. I seethe when they call themselves true Christians. I've been reading some accounts from the Middle Ages. Arianism was rampant for a while.

I believe someone here posted that it originated with the Millerites or Adventists - and that it is practically unique with the Witnesses and the Adventists today among all other christian religions.

I could have that wrong, but that is what I recall reading here a few weeks ago.

So as a member of the faithful and discreet slave, share with the domestics your food... watch how quickly you become the evil slave...
