Good luck with your presentation! I am certain that it will be illuminating. Yes, good luck. Not good fortune or someother synonym. Luck. How seet it is to use appropriate words w.o a censor.

How many people does the conference attract?

I have no idea. I have never been to one before. But they are expected close to 90 speakers so at least we'll be there

Good, Lee! You will be educating many about issues that need to be brought to light.

It's also good to see another 'feather in your cap'; like many therapists, you are an unsung hero in my eyes.

What could be really interesting is to see if any JWs I knew are there and are now ex-JWs. I was a JW in Montreal so most of the ones who were JWs 25 years ago will know me if they see me.

My mom started studying after I was born. She and my dad had been married 10 yrs and had two boys. At that time my dad worked in aerospace and mother was a stay at home. She became a JW with a vengence. My Father played on a baseball team, a bowling team and a rotating poker game with a few work guys. My brothers went to Catholic School. That was the first change, then christmas, birthdays, everything. My mom hounded my dad and thru time he gave up the things he loved. He still wrote to his family until the day he died but we kids were pretty much cut away from family. My dad became more and more invisible. He would get up at 4 AM leave, have breakfast at a diner be at work at 8. Off at 4:30. Dinner as soon as he got home. He'd work in the garden, read the paper and be in bed by 7. Mother would drag us to all the meetings, assemblies etc. One brother became a career criminal even murdering a guy with a hammer. Because he wasn't baptized Mother never felt God held anything against him. My other brother got a job at Boeing but was anti social and only had one friend. He joined the Marines the day he graduated high school to get away from my mom and her religion. I left the Society after 36yrs and my mom never got over that. She took it very personally. We all, including my mom, were screwed up by this religion. When I left my dad started hanging around my place a lot and we became very close. He had become invisible to all of us to avoid her confrontations. He'd say, "Your mother would give the shirt off her back to those JWs but if a person fell down bleeding in front of her she would walk away." So our whole family and by extention all my cousins, aunts and uncles were injured. My father died 15 yrs ago. My two brothers and my mom have all died within the last 3 years. I was hit by a car recently and almost died. I wish I had.

Can't post any information but I find myself wishing I was a LOT closer to Montreal, and with some disposable income...

Looking forward to hearing more about this, as it progresses!

Aw, Dog is God, I'm very glad that you're still alive...

I really like your comments, and your insights. You bring a lot to this board, and I'd feel awfully deprived if you weren't around.... And very sad...
