This is not a Watchtower picture, but I certainly saw lots of West African Bros at Twickenham in the old days, dressed exactly like this. It certainly added colour to the proceedings.

When we went to one of those Eastern European Conventions in the nineties there were Japanese posing for photos in kimonos..

Perhaps your experience had more to do with it being St David's day??

Iechyd da....(that is not a mistake, it is a Welsh greeting!) I Think ......

My favorite convention was as a child. It was the International Convention at Yankee Stadium. People came dressed in national costumes that were long since outdated. It was so nice to see everyone in their different garb. The British and French were not that interesting. I thought JWs were the coolest things. Look at how global we were, My parents shoved my bro and me in front of anyone in colorful dress. I still have those photos. A JW Convention -- an we have smiles on our faces.

If you look at some pics in the WTS publications depicting the "new system" and they have people in national dress...

Yea, because in the "New System" when there are no more national borders, governments, etc. nothing shows united brotherhood like wearing clothing styles of a destroyed system of things.

oh yes! i wore my white cap and clogs to the international convention in copenhagen. :-p to be honest, i looked cute as hell, lol...

i loved international conventions. i was in twickingham as well. '98 wasn't it? and paris... (met a very cute italian brother who wrote to me after the convention. when i used to call him and he answered the phone in italian, i nearly died. ;-) to bad he preferred pioneering more. :-p)

now i'm into re-enactment (regency period mostly), so i can still dress up!

I am surprised that people here are interested in reenactment. It has been my wish to do for decades. The local groups just want to be a camp follower--a hag. I don't need to spend money to look like a hag.

zid told me of a group where you get to be landed gentry.

What I always found fascinating about the African couples is that the same fabric is used for both the woman's and man's clothing. Since western style men's wear is so limited in style, you can't generally match the couples up based on their clothing. The closest you can come is matching the shirt and tie color to the the color of the sister's dress.
