This study might still join because you don't know what was said about you when you left. At least anybody within ear-shot now knows that the religion is extreme. I am assuming that the reason you went over to him is because he was a "friend" of sorts who came over your house. Otherwise, why bother? If it were a stranger in the hall I would not bother.

I see JWs in stores and I just have a pleasant expression on my face. I do not go out of my way to greet them but I won't avoid them either. I just act as though I don't recognize them and in some cases it is true because some of these people have aged badly and I wouldn't know them from Adam. So, their shunning routine is wasted on me.

I totally know what you mean, I thought about not saying anything or evern going over to him however I decided I didn't want to be like them. If I can be pleasent to those that I know I will. If they choose not to be pleasent back it's their choice. I was not trying to sway this study I was just blown away at the ignorance of this man who made the choice he did. I was mostley doing a check to see what would happen. This person has aged badly by the way.

For those that don't know, vegetarian enchiladas are to be enjoyed smothered with non-fat cheese and washed down with non-alcoholic beer!

I went over to him to say hi and shake his hand and when I reached out he pulled his hand away so I looked over at his partner who was obviously a bible study and reached out to shake his hand and as I did I said to him “the reason he won’t shake my hand is that he’s mad because I don’t go to meetings anymore. I walked away and nothing else was said.

How can JWs be so stupid? I mean seriously!!!

Why not say something like, "Wow, it's great to see you! I miss you!!! How've you been?"

That might at least have a snowball's chance of encouraging some of us to think about returning. Why do they think being rude and abusive would ever make anyone want to come back? I guess it works on abused women so they think it's a good model to emulate.

HMMMM and here am i thinking that the one perosn who would acknowledge you would be an elder....you know...before a man takes a false step thingy.

He obviously hasn't read his material or he has been told something about you and assumed it to be true.

Sad that an elder would react that way.
