Wo, Wo, Wo Derrick...back the F$%K up...You're telling me that a 90 year old sister in the congregation married an 18 year old guy?!? Holy (fill in a long list of obscenities here)! DANG! If this happened, then this is the strangest pience of JW non-fiction I've ever come across! Don't get we wrong, I believe very firmly that if 2 people love each other very much then that love would transcend age. HOWEVER, I'm willing to put this into the cannon of JW folklore, and more than willing to classify it as JW urban myth that came about merely for elderly JW virgins to reinforce their sexuality, to make up for their stigma as...well....virgins! All cultures have their own myths that they use in order to reinforce their beliefs (religious, mythological, and otherwise) so I could understand how a story like this could come about. I can understand it much more in that light than if the actual event ever happened....

Another reason why the story was highly suspect...
Of course the above is reliable information because it came from an elderly elder's wife in my apartment complex who often felt sorry for us single brothers sharing apartments, so invited us to dinner often.
I was never one to believe the information coming from the elders or the elder body to be very reliable. BTW, I don't think she felt sorry for you guys, I just think she wanted you guys to know that she was available! LOL. i could just picture it now, thinking to herself, "Maybe if I could convince them that the older sisters were sex machines then maybe we can finally get some from the younger brothers!!" LOL, boy this is too much! -

Preston,
I am sure we would have heard about it in National Enquirer if it did happen. This story is so unlikey, that I smelled it before I even opened this thread

Although it's gross to contemplate, and I understand that the JWs who posted their objections to this topic must find it appalling to even consider, the truth is marriages with huge age differences amongst JWs aren't uncommon. I know you and others may find it embarassing to bring out these aspects of the organization that cast it in more "worldly" light, but the truth of abstinence even to the point of not allowing masturbation (with extreme guilt when it rarely occurs) is not pretty. Those with high sex-drives often fall very suddenly into temptation or will marry any available party, even if the age difference is extreme, as an alternative to fornication. The Society emphasizes Paul's words in its admonishment to single JWs that "it is better to marry that to be inflamed with passion." In other words, to put it bluntly, an 18 year old brother is better off marrying a 90 year old sister if she's the only one available, rather than to be in constant sexual overdrive and risk fornication with a young attractive sister! That is the truth that many JWs such as yourself don't like to hear, and feel discussing is like "airing the congregation's dirty laundry." But I think if Simon allows a topic like this, my blunt reply should be thought-provoking if not welcomed.
Ripley's Believe It Or Not: This and similar accounts of huge age differences between JWs in marriage are well known by those attending the southern California district Kingdom Halls. Call it "urban legend" or what you will, but I have seen a similar situation with a very young brother gifted with good looks marrying an attractive widow in her 50's attending our Hall (she was in great physical shape, and looked like she was in her 30's). Admittedly it's easy to rationalize such a union when the older woman is still very attractive and youthful looking. However, anyone who has been single as a JW knows that some JW singles have such an active sex-drive that they would do anything to prevent falling into fornication or even what some call masturbatory episodes. ;-)
And I mean anything including taking an elderly spouse if no younger marriage-minded congregation members are available. I hear on occasion of the beautiful young sisters still in high school betrothed to middle-aged elders. The young girl's parents are terrified her beauty will draw her into sexual immorality and would rather marry her off to a single elder who will keep her chaste for the rest of her life. At least this is their reasoning flawed as it obviously is by unbiased observers.

God Damn!!!
After 37 years in the TRUTH, I am so fucking sick of liars and people who will believe and perpetuate any story, no matter how rediculous, I could just puke!
I do believe you left (if one can call your course of action "leaving") the organization because it is not stupidly insane enough for your taste, Duh-rick.

Oh Rick,
I am quite aware of the rules governing sexuality in the JW world. BTW I am not an active Jw, what ever gave you that idea? Last time you posted to me you assumed I was Mommie Dark and you falsely accused me of several things...still awaiting an apology on that one. You said in your last postIn other words, to put it bluntly, an 18 year old brother is better off marrying a 90 year old sister if she's the only one available, rather than to be in constant sexual overdrive and risk fornication with a young attractive sister!
Which is in total contradiction of your previous post, where you stated he was quite the stud muffin:
Every marriage-minded sister in the district was after him, and he was exceptionally dedicated to The Truth (putting in all his spare time in field service, and even giving up college to pioneer). Some said he even aspired to be an elder, and was exceptionally good looking with sisters competing for his attention before and after meetings; and an athlete into high school sports until he began preparing for baptism a year earlier.
I can't believe that you would even swallow that story, let alone post it on a public forum as truth! lol Well if an elder's wife told you then you can take it as gospel eh?
