What holds witnesses back is not physical force but their belief system in following what wts tells them to which often equals to being held back physically in fear of dying at Armageddon or displeasing God
Well said and worth repeating.

If a person is pushed into a lion's den, is it only the lions to blame when that person is eaten?
Perfect analogy. Any who play the "freedom of choice" card when it comes to the collective behaviour of JW's is seriously out of touch.
Except in the case of the WTS . . . when they play the "freedom of choice" card . . . it's pure deceit.
I come down on Paul Grundy's side well and truly . . . the wording describes the situation accurately IMO.
No matter how you try to spin it, the atrocities committed against JWs in Malawi were "due" to the wicked persons who attacked them.
While it is true that the people that committed the violence against the JWs in Malawi are morally culpable for their actions, such a statement completely misses the point of the moral culpability of the WTBTS for having a double standard in this situation concerning the Malawi JWs and those in Mexico. WT policies put Malawi JWs in harms way, while at the same time allowing Mexican JWs to engage in illegal, immoral practices to avoid a similar (and likely lesser) harm.
It's like someone getting beaten by one person and then robbed by another. A third person comes along and loudly decries the great wrong committed by the villain that committed the assault but inexplicably defends the thief! Later it is discovered the third person actually sent our victim down the street where they were mugged and beaten with full knowledge it was a street known for its criminal activity and that they knew of a safer route, one which they sent other friends by.
To repeat a point I made previously in this thread, comments such as the one quoted completely miss the obvious point of contention with WT policy that what was expected of JWs in one country was completely inconsistent with what was an accepted practice in another.
