  Now, that helps. Let me give you my thoughts. Loving movies and standing at a counter all day handing over videos to custamers are very different things. I would suggest that you get a part time job at a video store after you're done at the bakery. My guess is, that you will find the job at the video store to be very boring compared to the bakery.

  I don't think you have to "prove yourself". I think you should be proud to take over the business. There is nothing that makes a father prouder than to see his son follow in his footsteps. I wish I had been so lucky as you when I was a young man.

  Hey gilwarrior,my buddy managed a few video,stereo/tv rent to own shops.I looked after collections for him.Taking care of people who are willing to rip you off takes a special breed.Most people have a tuff time with that,I do not.Stick to the bakery,more money less hassle.You won`t have to hire someone like me..LOL...OUTLAW

  What you just said doesn't make sense to me. You want to be your own man? When your dad retires and you run the bakery, you will be your own man.

  You say that running a bakery isn't easy. There is no business that is easy to run. At least with the bakery, you know the ropes.

  If you decide to stay with the bakery, to make it more interesting, maybe you could make and sell sandwiches and coffee as well. It would probably be a good money generator. You could set up a space w a few tables for customers as well. There are a few business chains doing only this. If it did well, you could enlarge that part of the business. Just a thought.
