I would give up televised sports and beer. Since I really don't like either one, I should do pretty well.

I don't give up anything. Giving up candy seems childish. I read Thomas Merton, C.S. Lewis, or other readings during Lent. Sometimes I read Morning and Evening Prayer (Anglican) by myself. I change some of the language in the prayer book to make it work.
I like to attend weeknight church studies. The Cathedral of St. John the Divine in NY and St. Bart's had some awesome Lenten reflections. I read the bulletin from my local church. Boring. So I will solo at home. It reminds me I am in exile.

I was a JW for 30+ years! I've given up enough shit to cover a lifetime of Lents!
