Great that you were able to speak with her. A friend of mine had told me about her book. I put a bid on a website and got an excellent, hard bound, unabridged edition. It was fabulous. I shared key parts of it at one of our annual ACB conferences. It was so wonderful to get a woman's perspective, so overlooked in the JWs, of what goes on. Also, how even though the events were from the 50s, they were still timeless, e.g., "the more things change, the more they stay the same".

OK, Randy - good news! The OCR software that came with my scanner is not difficult to use at all, so I've been scanning in pages and pages of "Visions of Glory." The downside is that my scanner is a little Canon flatbed and does not have a document feeder - not that a document feeder would be of any use with a hardbound book that I don't want to destroy.

I'm going to proceed with the scanning and editing the scanner errors (bound books produce errors in the area of the spine because it isn't in focus... and I'll email the ASCII text files to you at a rate of one chapter approximately every week.

If there are others out there with scanners and OCR software and the desire to do a little good deed, I'll welcome some assistance. Let Randy and I know if you'll be getting involved, and feel free to BEGIN your scanning at page 225. If we could get four people on this we'd only have about 100 pages each to do and Randy could have the entire book up within a month or so. If a third person can get involved, begin at page 325, and a fourth person can start at page 125.

    Any takers? Any copmments?

(Yes, we will scan the ENTIRE book - including the notes and the index, even though the index will not be directly usable against the ASCII text because the page numbering will probably change or disappear.)

    Hi Nathan,
Thank you! Someone else has already begun the scanning, so let me see first before you do a lot of work! I will get back to you. Email me at: [email protected]

    Nathan, you have email...check PLEASE!!!!!!!

In 1975 a crack team of publishers was sentenced to death by a judicial commiteee. They promptly escaped from the cult and now live life on the run. If you have a problem ... and if you can find them ... maybe you can contact the A--postate Team"

    Follow-up:

Sadly, the free version of VISIONS OF GLORY that "dungbeetle" and I worked so hard to produce for Randy is no longer available on FREEMINDS. Ask Randy why.

At the time of BGH's death, Randy was telling everyone that she had given him permission to put "Visions of Glory" online. I don't know if that was "exclusive" permission or if the permission was granted in writing.

Randy has had trouble with the running of his site which I think is the reason that "VoG" became lost.

It may fall to an anonymous party to prepare a pdf version of "VoG" for free distribution.

I'm not certain, but there probably wouldn't be copyright issues like those associated with Ray Franz' books.

Once again I am appalled that I joined an org that kept all this tribal history quiet. Had I known any of this I would have had nothing to do with it. The wt/gb practiced deception from the day one and are deserving of the destruction they promised on everyone else.

I think if the US govt ever seized the wt estates could make well use of the bethel buildings and farms as respite places for injured people military/civil who are needing rehab.
