Either that, or as I view, he was an apostate Jew. Going on 12, he was already questioning the Jewish Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger (the Sanhedrin). He died trying to save mankind from Jehovah, only to have Jehovah twist his message and use it instead to enslave mankind.
Is it possible that Jesus was a Cult Leader???

More possible that he was not a historical figure at all. There are no contemporary accounts by his disciples nor historians who wrote about him. If he was God's son, he did a poor job showing it.

Cult leader is a pretty strong and loaded word, don't you think? If Jesus were more of a cult leader in the modern sense, he would have taken his followers down with him.

The Jewish religious leaders did view the Christians as a cult. They were a break-away group from Judaism, with a man as leader. The Pharisee Gamaliel suggested a test. He mentioned a certain Theudas, as well as Judas the Galilean, both with a substantial following. Both were overthrown. If Jesus' disciples followed their example, they would be overthrown. If from God, they would not be overtrown (cf. Acts 5:34-39).

Are you kidding? I thought it was obvious he had done just that. Through the ages, in myriad guises cloaked under the cross, Christians have licked their lips at the chance to proudly cry "Persecution!" and run headlong into fanaticism fanned by the promise of a heavenly mansion. The price is high but the accommodation's out of this world.
Christ modeled lamb-like willingnes to die, die, die for the faith. Okay, he did not overtly kill his followers like some have done. He didn't need to. Nor is it inevitable that a cult leader will do so. Nonetheless his recorded teachings elevated death to an honorable method of proving one's devotion to him.
The Greek Scriptures positively reinforce the martyr mentality. Some have said Christ did not need to put his own followers to death because he had perfected the mentality in which others would willingly put them to death for him.
