However, THEY hate being pushed - and we know that guys
like Henschel pursue a deliberate policy of keeping quiet
about disasters - and making changes s-l-o-w-l-y, so
as not to "upset the friends". You are right in thinking
that most Witlesses will buy into any nonsense excreting
out of the Watchtower - often with enthusiasm.
But, what I'm saying is that there is a real possibility
of sudden, dramatic change that will be hard to cover up.
They could be publically vilified - and not for something
they can easily yell "persecution" about.
Suppose the Catholic inquisition occured only last year?
What effect would it have on current Catholics?
You gotta admit, it's a very juicy dilemma!

Do any of you really think this will happen anytime soon.
They have an excuse for everything.
No matter how horrible it was or how wrong people know it is they will make their own little excuse for it.
My God they survived
6 failed end time predictions
and three times it had devestating effects on the internal morale and the numbers of new converts. [1914, 1925, 1975.]
People say the world is going to end in the name of God and when it fails to come to pass people dismiss it like nothing.
When i asked if anyone died due to not recieving an organ transplant they said they did Jehovahs will. It dosent matter to them.
Only time will dig their grave.
When the remnant dies someone will be there to take over as usual.
Russel died and Rutherford took over.
It will come and it will go.
And one very important thing. People in general dont really care about Jehovah witnesses all they know is that they come knocking at their door at unsual times.
Untill the whole world is aware of how dangerous this false religion really is it will continue to thrive.
Good example being the Catholic church.
No matter how much bad publicty they got they still managed to come out of it.

People can plainly see that the Pope is not infallible but in their minds any excuse that they are given to explain away the mistakes and contradictions of the past.
Any critisism will only to prove the point that the world is against the witnesses.
And besides THEY HAVE NOWHERE ELSE TO GO.
All other religions are false. And they are also indoctrinated with the reasoning that God has an Earthly Organisation and you need to be a part of it to serve him properly.
Look at the amount of effort that has to be put into making one jw just even think about openly admitting, that they have a doubt of one of the organisations teachings.
It will just be EXPLAINED AWAY AS USUAL. Someone on this board once said that the ones who they have right now are too far gone to save and ALL THAT CAN BE DONE is to prevent them from making new converts.
This is basically what it comes down to. People have to be burnt in order to doubt. And the rest of the world dosent really care much about jws.
So the main source of information pertaining to the error of their teachings comes from apostte sources,
and we know how credible they are to jw indivisuals.
It will continue to grow because it has its purpose.
Even though we can all agree that great termoil is ahead for the organisation we know what happened in the past.
We shouldent be too egar for this to occur.
The blood issue will be thrown out, the 1914 thing will be abandoned
the remnant will be replaced and views on other intrepations will be modified.
How many thimes have we seen this before, don't you think history will repeat itself?
Dont get your hopes up they always have another card under the table ready to pull out. You have to give the guys in Brookly some credit for pulling off this sham for such along time..
And in the meantime brothers will be cautioned not to loose faith in Jehovah and to keep busy in the truth. And anybody that comes to their senses will be gotten rid of and demonized.
All i see to do is to keep places like this running and to inform whoever you meet about the error of their ways.
With the advent of the information age they have ONLY GOTTEN BETTER at controlling their ranks and keeping them away from information hazordous to Gods organisation.
Not more to do but PRAY...
Once people believe in God and they think this is the way what can you do to stop them.
They have sole authority to intrepret that most holy book in whatever way they choose to [within reasonable limits] and can get their followers to believe pratically anything once they are hooked.
They have become a god in a sense because only God and His word is infallible and they have COMPLETE CONTROLL of His in fallible word. The bible. Even if you do not believe the bible is Gods word you know that the Jws do. ANd what has the Watchtower done with this complete controll that they have given themselves.

My dad died because of the transplant policy. It was the first issue that made me really question the organization. They changed their policy 2 years after he died. It took me a long time to allow myself to do any research. I was in the borg for over a decade after that, but it was the issue that made me realize that something was very wrong. It began my journey out.

Sorry for the loss of your father.
You see how long it took you to come to grips with the fact that the organisation was responsible for his death and taht something could have been wrong.
Where elese did you think that had to go?
You are just an unlucky casualty of this circumstance.
People probally think that this was the will of Jehovah and that it was just a test.
Your situation is probally just put in the back of their minds or since it dident happen to them and wasent very common.
And you shall know them by their fruits.
How sad is this....

We sometimes fail to appreciate just how much people want to believe and what they will do to maintain the Society's cleverly contrived illusion.
The truth of the matter is that the Society has grown to the point where it can withstand scandals and still walk away from it pretty much intact. Unlike Jim Jones, this is a system with a heirarchy. When push comes to shove, individuals may be blamed and sacrificed but the system will remain in place.
Another thing we may fail to realize is that the Society is only one of a great many belief systems enslaving people's minds and hearts. There are corrupt governments on earth today that do more harm than the Society and I would like to see those removed as well.
I believe all we can do is help those that are within our sphere of influence lest we begin perpetuating our own little fantasy world in which we see the WTBS come crashing down as a result of something we expose about them.
We may want to also ask ourselves what it is that we are offering in the place of what we are asking them to leave. Freedom? The word brings to mind a verse in an old Janis Joplin number: "Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose..." It's just plain scary for someone who has been very comfortable with his/her beliefs to suddenly be confronted with the possibility that it's all bogus. Many are willing to sacrifice a little logic for the comfort of the illusion. Many are willing to remain 'slaves' for the perceived security there. Many prefer dying with a hope, any hope however slim, rather than live with the idea that death ends it all, ESPECIALLY those that have grown old and sickly. As long as those situations exist...so will the WTBS and other entities like itself.

As a similar belief system, consider Communism and the Soviet Union.
They survived everything - including wild, extreme incompetence
and corruption. They finally ran out of money..

The WTBTS meme is far too well entrenched in too many receptive host minds for it to ever die out, people. Stop wishing and do something positive.
Apostates are chemotherapy for the WTBTS mind-virus.
Just think about it this way - we are all that stands between a couple of million 'believers' and complete oblivion. As long as we're still around, getting people to question their 'beliefs', we can change things.
Unfortunately, the WTBTS policy of implicitly forcing very young people to marry just so that they can have normal human sexual experiences (and not get removed from their entire social framework for doing it) is causing many young Dubs to fall pregnant very quickly. Chances are, this is increasing the spread of the WTBTS through the sheer force of reproduction, no less. We all know that the most devout Dubs are those which are imprinted from birth with the teachings of the WTBTS. Probably about a million people are going to pull out their rocket launchers right about now and try to get me!
If any Elders are reading this, well, what the hell are you doing here? Get back to your flock, they need you, don't they? A shun a day keeps the doctors away!

I would like to see the WT's power broken so that it does not have the control it now does over its people. Let the JWs continue to function as a faith community, but get the damned monkey off their backs!
I have two observations as to why this is so difficult to accomplish. (1) As far as exposing WT to the public is concerned, the JWs are an established cult. The public seems more easily aroused over the practices of newer groups. But older groups, founded in the nineteenth century, have almost become part of the American heritage and have even to some extent been adopted as examples of religious tolerance in the US. With the JWs, this is not completely the case because of their hostility to the mainline culture, but it is still largely true that they are considered an American religion (if a peculiar one at that).
(2) The other observation is that atheism or unbelief should not be presented as the alternative to the Borg. It is one alternative, an alternative that many have taken. But people who leave JWs still have the option of being people of faith. When I and others engage in religious or Biblical discussions on this forum, it is frequently the case that someone who does not share our presuppositions will send a post with sarcastic remarks because they consider God and the Bible to be a bunch of crap. Sometimes I think people who make these posts may be drunk at the time, but I also think there are some who would simply like us "religious" people to leave this forum. But you must realize that there are people in the WT who, if they think the alternative is atheism, will remain in the organization and continue to take orders from Big Brother. So I suggest that those of you who are unbelievers should stay out of our hair (and many of you do). You have your posts, and we'll have ours. If we can't agree that our one objective is to help those victimized by the WT, you in your way and we in ours, then we don't belong together in an sense.

Frenchy; you are so right... I had this very argument with an elder a few days ago; it did'nt matter which issues i brought up, his answers were unswerving and always the same;
Blaming INDIVIDUALS for each and every bad decision the WTBS has ever made, and making dissenters sound like a huge body of apostates.It was pretty upsetting to hear the blanket statements coming out of his mouth.Even the UN issue was 'backed by apostates' thereby not worth any consideration... the remedy? More faith; more prayer and WAIT ON JEHOVAH.As all of my former associates in the cong have decided to leave their brains on auto-pilot, I am convinced that the future lies in this type of site where the info can sink in SLOWLY towards gradual realization. Fliers etc i hope ,with web addresses /info on will eventually help some to get the info they need to shake them just enough to start to search a little more. Could we print out some and distribute at the same time... a coordinated campaign? I'm sure it'd reach some and put the fear of God into a few.Please???!!!

This is so fustrating.
You told him about the UN thing and he blamed it on apostates.
I heard of silly excuses but that one takes the cake.
No matter what the watchtower does it will come out of this unscaved.
What can you do about this?
They know that they condem other organisations for associating with the Un but when they do it, they just excuse it away.
I probally even think he believed that the documents were fabricated and wouldent have wasted his time investigating it, because nothing would come of it....
