You did great. I would print out a few brief studies and articles showing the decrease in crime and homicide. That way if they come back you can stick to one subject. You could play innocent and say "I did some research on this after our conversation".

What they practice at their meetings - you did not fall into that category. As a householder, you were not supposed to disagree with them. Since you _did_ disagree with the woman, she didn't know what else to do, but repeat her pre-programmed speech.

All I can suggest for this, is to invite her inside and ask her to use Google to find statistics to back up her 'feelings'.
No don't do that. You can verify any ridiculous assertion via a google search and you'll just be bickering back and forth about source validity.
