Peter DENIED Jesus to protect himself and Jesus forgave him. Yet in the holocaust JW's who were offered to deny an earthly organziation would rather be tortured than lie to the nazi regime.

How blind they are to the bible's guidance on love and forgiveness. They value their rules over the lives of the sheep.

For some reason, logical writing is not the forte of the WT writing department.

that's right ex360...maybe they know they won't really be forgiven? well they won't be forgiven by the WTS anyway.

Who knows, if they are good enough, they could be used as an example...like Job. Wouldn't that be a privelage?

The apostles were pulling an all-nighter, after a hearty meal and wine. Sleep deprivation has nothing to do with not being interested in world events. They really grasp at straws, and dumb down their followers in doing so.

Of course, the WTS says that Jesus was a perfect man, physically, spiritually, mentally, emotionally,... Plus angels appeared to Jesus to support him (not so for the apostles). Is it no surprise Jesus was able to stay the course and the apostles, imperfect humans in every way failed.

Just another example of what my English teacher said in college. ALL comparisons are invalid and unfair. She made the point to emphasize that the whole purpose for comparisons, metaphor, symbolism etc. is not to prove anything. No comparison proves a thing. the purpose of comparisons is just to help people understand and communicate. It can be a teaching tool. But what it does not do, is it does not MAKE some point. When it is used as some kind of authoritarian proof, as if to say since this one thing is true, and since the two things are alike, therefore this second thing must be true; that is abuse of the tool, and is a false analogy, or false comparison. No two things are alike in other words.

There are countless scholarly, clinical medical studies on the severe negative effects of sleep deprivation to the human mind and body.

    Spiritual "wakefulness" is hardly analogous.

On the other hand, maybe the GB are both physically, mentally AND spiritually sleep deprived. That would explain at least some of their loony behavior!

    Very well said Shawn10538.

A pretty smart JW once told me that "illustrations don't prove a thing". He would then go on to relate the fantastic "illustration" (that's the only word JWs know for analogy, simile, metaphor, etc.) of how water illustrates the trinity. Three separate phases, vapor, liquid, solid, but still all the same compound. It's a great illustration, but it still doesn't make the trinity true ( or false ).

Thanks for all the comments so far. I wish I had the time today to do a proper Flipper-style acknowledgement of everyone, but alas, kids, a dog, and a soon-to-arrive-after-working-all-day wife preclude that just now.

    om
