Whether the Apostles were awake or asleep the outcome would have been the same. In order to save all mankind, Jesus had to die. It was fortold, right ? By staying awake, what would have they have been attempting to accomplish ? Fight the guards off and keep him alive for a few more weeks ? He was supposed to be rejected....he was supposed to die. The apostles were mere earthlings caught in this crazy universal sovereignty debacle supposedly between God and Satan.

The watchtower corp always manages to put themselves in the place of Jesus and then apply his words to the rest of us in a scolding manner which is intended to shame you into doing more for them.

The Apostles question to the SON OF GOD "Master where are we to go, for you have the sayings of life " Is applied to mean that leaving the Watchtower Corperation is the same as abandoning Jesus or even God himself.

Belonging to the Watchtower Corperation means you're a Witness of Jehovah when in reality if Gods name is Jehovah, anyone who speaks about him is one of Jehovah's Witness.

The comparison is between driving in a dangerous intersection versus flying on a plane or a long train trip. The apostles were on that "dangerous intersection" when they fell asleep. Think: Falling asleep while driving in Lagos (one of the most congested and dangerous places to drive in the world) during rush hour. Now, what they are asking everyone to do is to stay "awake", beating up on them for sleeping on a long train trip that will probably last a week or more.

And, especially if that train continually goes in circles. You are not the conductor on that train, you do not control where it goes--you are merely a passenger on a train that is not reaching your destination. Similarly, it is not fair to expect people to stay awake for thousands of years while nothing happens. Nor is it fair to expect people to be on edge (as they would justifiably be if "driving in Lagos during rush hour) while on a train trip, continuously, since 1874. And, what they are asking people to do is not going to do any good--perhaps they need to get on a ship bound for a less corrupt, less crowded, and less dangerous place to do their driving (or on another train, that is actually going to reach a destination worth reaching).

WTWizard makes a great point with the long train ride. People on the edge get worn out after too long and they "crash."

How about, "HEY, even the apostles fell asleep!" ?

How about, "When even the apostles fell asleep, Jesus woke them up. I am confident that he will wake us up on time before something important happens."

Shawn10538 that was well put mate.

The WTS likes to gloat that they were the only religion"awake" when the Lord returned , gives them the self righteous attitude of the Pharisees.

BUT what about the other 2nd Adventist religions who on 1914 were closer to what the christian persona was then and still do as opposed to the WTS who are steering off course just to be different from other religions.

I believe the WTS speaks volumes in its silence in reference to the other 2nd Adventist religions. Why? Ashamed they were not the cleanest on the inspection day?

They will make up whatever they like and it will be swallowed by every JW. For me its too late , like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz ive seen behind the curtain and know there is nothing there except insidious self empowerment ans spiritual harlotry!

Crumbs sorry for the rant but it just pisses me off sometimes still.
